Got a new pool table coming in this Friday. I thought that all you had to do was but the legs on, level it and start playing. Found out that theres a lot of work to do( about 4 to 6 hours). I downloaded the manuel (PDF) looks like I can probably handle the job. Only thing that might be hard to do is put down the cloth. Any experts out there that can tell me what to do? I can get it professionally installed for 130.00

If it's a real pro-type expensive table I'd let the pros handle it.
Like zer0burn said if something should go wrong you are out of the loop.

Pro install. They can make sure it's leveled correctly and all that good stuff. The last thing you want to do is screw it up and spend more money than the table cost to get installed correctly.

4-6 hours is ridiculous. I don't know how much you spent on the table or what kind it is, but If you're gonna spend the money, have it done right, and if there is a problem they should warranty the work.

Spend $1500+ on a pool table and not have it work makes your investment worthless. It took about 1 hour for them to install the table, felt/cups, level it, etc.

It's easy to assemble it... but for the fabric, you will need professionals to do it... but i guess you could try yourself.

I've done it myself. It can be done with a lot of trial and error but it is a pain. Usually, the pro's will install it and come back a month or so later and re-level incase of it settling a bit (from say, the carpet underlay).

For $130 bucks, I'd go with the pros. Then you can bitch to them if it doesn't play right. Besides, if they damage it unpacking it, its their fault, not yours.

get it professionally done. you could crack the slate. plus getting level is a real b!tch and a half. i watched them install one of mine once and they used shims and even a playing card to get it perfectly level. let them do it it is completely worth it.

Well now that the decision has been made, what type of table did you go with? Cloth? What cue are you playing? Balls? Sardo? :D
