Pool Owners, I have a question

Cleaning my pool today, I noticed attached to the side of the walls, at the water line, almost transparent (a very light brownish tint), squiggly things. No movement, but I needed to scrub them to remove them from the wall. Also close to them, but not necessarily attached to the walls were these very small black squiggly (but almost square in shape) things. Again didn't seem to move. The black ones reminded me of a circuit board.

Oh, and I noticed these around the same time I noticed a large group of flying ants using the pool.

It may be the rebar you are seeing. How old is the pool?
EDIT
I misunderstood, I thought you meant on the side of the pool.

Sounds like you may have algae. Depending on the type a double treatment of shock may kill it. Take a water sample to the local pool store if the shock doesnt kill it.

Maybe some weird kind of algea. Mine is always yellow or green and I always have stains on my walls because I never brush the pool.

Could also be dead algea thats just stuck to the side of the pool ... scrub it off & se if it comes back in a few days.
