Now that our pool is open at our complex, I want to start doing some exercise in the morning before work. I am going to run laps in the pool but are there any other exercises you guys can suggest?

just swim nonstop for like 15 minutes, then increase by like 5 minutes every week or two. by nonstop, i mean that if you aren't actively swimming, you should be treading water. note that you should spend nearly the entire time actively swimming. it's actually a very good workout.

Depending on how big your pool is. Here is my typical workout routine.

4 laps (25 meters each lap) for warmup without stopping

rest for 2 mins

Swim 6 laps

rest 30 seconds

Swim 6 laps

rest 30 seconds

rinse & repeat

Just plain old swimming is excellent exercise. It works all the major muscle groups and provides a great cardiovascular workout. There's no real need to invent any specific exercises unless you want to target specific muscles.

I've found that just screwing around in the water (as long as you remain in motion) gets pretty tiring after a while. For something organized, just swim laps.
