Pontiac pulls out of NASCAR...and what about Dodge when they drop the Intrepid??

NFS4

Pontiac pulls out of NASCAR

So that leaves Chevy, Ford and Dodge....

But when Dodge releases the new Magnum R/T Sport Wagon, they are gonna ditch the Intrepid. So will that just leave Chevy and Ford?
As Pontiac looks for more appropriate racing venues, leaving NASCAR could provide an opening for foreign automakers to grab some of the racing circuit's spotlight, Wangers said.

"This will pave the way for an even quicker entry into stock car racing for imports," Wangers said, "specifically Toyota, which is becoming involved in the truck series as early as next year with the Tundra, as well as some of the other imports."
Muahaha. Could you imagine Toyota and Nissan tearin' it up? 😀

Isn't honda allowed in there now? or just honda engines?

Why would pontiac drop out, i though the new grand prix was supposed to be better...

Those Honda pu$$ies won't make a V8 engine. They'll never make it into NASCAR

Oh thats right. Nissan JUST started making a V8 though, correct? So it might be awhile before they learn the true art.

Nissan has been making a V8 since the early 90's (Infiniti Q45). They're pretty damned good too...check out the new Endurance V8 in the Nissan Titan

early 90s compared to early 1900's !

Yeah, the Titan endurance is what got me rollin. I thought all the infiniti's until now were just inline6.

I don't think that there has ever been an inline-6 Infiniti, but I could be wrong. Most of them are either V6's or V8's. The G20 was an inline-4

As for Japanese V8's, they're generally more refined and smoother than their American counterparts

I think everything about follows that guideline.

And i thought RWD only really applied to the take-off, but while going the difference between it and FWD was none.

Ever heard of torque steer? 😀

Power is easy to make in a V8.. you have to wait YEARS before we know it's really a good engine...good layout, cost, and longevity are what is hard. 😉

That same basic engine design is based on the Q45's V8 which has been around since 1990.

There are many companies who keep crap engines for longer then they should, 305 and 360 come to mind 😉

Why all the Mopar hatin' 🙂

Dodge isn't going anywhere. Nascar will just rewrite the rules again like they did when they started letting Ford use a 4 door taurus. We will have a Stratus or hell maybe even an 300c 🙂 in Nascar. Na$car is famous for changing the rules.

Heh... Ever try taking a FWD around a sharp turn.. and then a RWD?

The 305 is a GM motor.

Edit: A very underpowered GM motor at that.

305 is GM... thats the spec they shoudl have dropped and just stuck with 350's 😉 .. oh that is ofcourse unless they would have made the 400 longer (I miss the 400 BAAAAAAAD)

Bill beat me to it

what diff does it make anyway? the cars all look alike... its all the matter of what kind of headlight stickers you put on the front

Once TRD shows it can compete with the Craftman Truck Series, i wouldn't be surprised to see TRD enter WC or BGN. They aready do well in CART/F1/IRL style racing

Acronym's Defined:

TRD = Toyota Racing Development
WC = Winston Cup
BGN = Busch Grand National
CART = Championship Auto Racing Teams
IRL = Indy Racing League

I am mister domestic but I still want to see Toyota in Nascar. They build a lot of crap here too and I really wouldn't care if they didn't. The more makes the more interesting Nascar is to watch and lately it could use all the help it can get. With all these 1 1/2 mile tracks that are virtually the same other than location and since they went to the commen template making all the cars virtually the same and the hard tires that turns half the races into who gets the best mileage wins the racing has really sucked IMO.

I just wish it would go back to production cars 🙁

One race would tear the fvck out of todays cars...which would be cool as hell to watch

"Were on lap 22 and OH, there goes another dodge transmission. But wait, there's another taurus with a cracked head"
