I bought a xp1600+ (AGOIA-Y 2002 week 6 stepping 2)at a pc show not too long ago. by fsb i can only get it to 1800+ stock volt @ 39C(142.9x10.5=1500). when i tried to connect all the level 1 bridges with a pencil (i filled the laser pits with super glue)i still couldn't adjust the multiplier. if i could adjust the mult i might hit almost 1.9ish Ghz easy it's I'm using a Gigabyte GA-7DX+ Mobo. it has an onboard dipswitch to adjust the mult. but i dunno if i can adjust the mult using that trick. any idea how i can use the full potential of my chip?

You can't use a pencil to unlock the XP's even if you fill the L1 pits up with glue. It has something to do with the resistive properties of the die. Basically you need purely conductive material that has 0 resistance to join the bridges. Graphite has a relatively high resistance. In previous thunderbird's, a resistance was ok as long as there was some kind of conductance, but with the XP's you need full conductance between the bridges in order to unlock the multiplier. If I'm not mistaken, I believe Tom's Hardware gives an excellent explanation of why the pencil trick won't work. Best bet is to try the rear window defogger repair solution (at most auto parts stores) or some silver lacquer if you're rich. I just got my 1600+ aroia a week back and I'm just burning it in before I try for unlocking. But be warned, it's not nearly as fast and easy as the pencil trick. Requires a decent amount of patience (especially if you have big clunky fingers like me).

I doubt it!!! Most with this 1600+ only got to 2200+levels or 1.8ghz with increased voltage...So considering your current limit now and the fact that 36mhz pci is unlikely not to high to cause issues, I dont think higher multiplier with 133fsb will work.....

also 1500 is not an 1800+...it would be 1533mhz....

Does that board have a 1/5 pci divider at 166fsb??? If so bump it up to 166fsb and raise vcore up to 1.8v and see if it flies, period??? With 10.5 x 166 it would only be 1743mhz or about 2100+ xp level....If you can't do that it is highly unlikley you can achieve your lofty goals!!!
