I bought a pomegranate on a whim today at the supermarket, since they were only a buck each. I read how to cut and eat it, and I think it's honestly one of the best fruits I've ever tasted! I like a challenging fruit (like oranges, starfruit, etc.) because it's like a reward when you finally get the juicy innards. The pomegranate certainly didn't disappoint.

Sorry, no pics...I've got juice all over my fingers! 🙂
Pomegranates are indeed super-tasty, but a total PITA to extract the fruit. You really need a lackey to do this for you or you end up burning more calories peeling the damn thing than you get eating it. 😛

Want a really challenging fruit? Go get a durian. You usually need a machete to open those things up. 😛

Just wanted to update the thread. Thanks to Jumpr making me aware of pomegranates again, I decided to buy one last night. Pleasantly suprised here. I find it enjoyable to eat. I cut it into quarters and then hold it in my hand and just pick the seed pods. I didn't make a mess at all.
