Polytetrafluoroethylene

I was looking into getting one of the new Logitech G5 mouses, and thought I'd read a couple reviews beforehand. They all talk about how it has this new specially designed material called "polytetrafluoroethylene". Did none of them bother to go and find out it's just the technical term for teflon?? One review even went so far as to say they are superior to teflon feet. Sigh...

Oh well, looks like I'll be getting a G5 soon.

teflon is a trademark of dupont. i'll only assume that polytetrafluroethylene means that it's higher density that the tapes being used now. teflon is generally considered to be just tetrafluroethylene

Poly- means it's a polymer of tetrafluoroethen, ie. a lot of molecules linked together.
Other than that, yes, polytetrafluoroethene is the rational name for the material known as Teflon, Interflon and so on.

Eh, just to make it clear, ehylene is the older name for ehene, both are acceptable.
