Omg, that's gross. These people are nuts. At least it isn't as bad as that 15 year old who raped his mother though.

Who are you all to judge? If you lived in Utah, you'd see that there really isn't that much to do except sleep with your cousins/aunts. :p

Seriously though, after travelling to Salt Lake City, I understand the problem with trying to enforce any laws there. Most people actively practicing polygamy in Utah are living way out in the middle of nowhere.

These people should be thrown in jail...it's rape plain and simple of a minor. I'm LDS and these numbnuts are nothing like our cult :). I think the average marrying age of a girl in Utah is like 19. In Japan it's like 27 or 28. But with these polygamists it's probably like 15 the average age for a girl. It kinda reminds me of those African tribes or India where they have those marriages to a bunch of girls.

Where is the law to protect these young girls, the thing is most of them in those communities don't think it's wrong.

if your mom's sister has a daughter and she is married to your dad's brother then she can be your cousin and aunt at the same time. the fvcked up part is if you have a kid with her then your kid's mom would be a mother and a grand aunt! wtf?!

Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer is a good quick read which talks about fundamentalist mormons and the conflict regarding polygamy.

ya but you forgot to put multiple wives in the equation.

your 3rd mothers child has children with your 2nd mothers child who is then has a child with your 1st mothers brothers 5th wives grandchild . . . .

try and define things in those terms. :)

In theory, I have nothing wrong with the concepts of polyamory or polygamy, and I do not believe the government should be in the business of legislating peoples' morality. However, I believe all members of any such relationship must be consenting adults, not related to each other, who understand the implications of what they are doing.

Woo!! I'm not a crazy fvck! :D:D

Actually, the best man at my wedding was a product of a polygamist family. They weren't really part of a "clan" that have their little towns out in the middle of nowhere, but his father was married to 3 women.

Funny thing is that there are similar clans just over the border in Arizona and you rarely hear anything about them. :)

I was working with a Morman captain at one of my duty stations.
Nice guy.

Apparently there are more Mormans in AZ than in Utah.
Polygamy is not generally practiced & preached, and is not openly tolerated by most.
