Polyester rules!

I just bought a couple of shirts today that are 94% and 100% Polyester... this material rules! I don't think I've ever owned a poly. shirt before... feels a lot like suede (sp?).

Why did the material go out in the late 70s and early 80s? I mean other than style of clothes, why did the material go away?

I don't think it was the material that went out of style, just the way designers used it Jugs 🙂

That is what I meant... I haven't seen much poly. in stores before. Sometimes it's like 5% polyester or something, but almost never above 50%.

Polyester is still around just not in the way it was 15-20 years ago.

Most thermal underwear is polyester or polyester/spandex/rayon/cotton blend.

Most sweatshirts are cotton/poly blend.

Polyester has better heat retention properties than cotton, is lighter, and wicks away moisture instead of holding it.

100% cotton rules. The downside is that you have to iron it.

True. The trick is to pull it out about 5 minutes before it's dry and hang it on a hanger. Of course if it's a button up dress shirt it still needs ironing but polo shirts and t-shirts you can get away with it.

No doubt this is a different type of Polyester as I showed it to my friend and he said "Why would you get a suede shirt? Ohh... THIS IS POLYESTER? WOW!"

You obviously haven't felt any polyester shirts recently.

They can make VERY nice suede-style clothing out of the stuff now. It's called "microfiber"

Microfiber is amazing stuff. Very versitile. Have a microfiber suede Dockers shirt and I love it.

Heh, I wore the shirt today and the girls are all over me for some reason... everyone wanted to feel the suede shirt! 😀

BIG BUMP

Anyone know of some places that sell/specialize in polyester button-up shirts? I'm not looking for single color shirts or shirts with dragons and japanese writing. I had bought one a couple years ago at a outlet mall. It was my favorite shirt. I tend to sweat a lot and it helped to conceal the sweating.
