If given the choice between Athlon 64 3200+ with 9800 PRO 128 video and dual 74G WD Raptor hard drives. Or P4 3.0C with 9800XT 256 video and dual Maxtor 80G drives for same price which would you choose?

P4 3.0 would have mobo Asus P4C800E Deluxe for Socket 478 - Intel 875P Canterwood.

A64 would have Gigabyte K8NPRO mobo

Both would be same on all other parts.

AMD64 has more features than the P4. There is no competition here.

BUT if i could choose, i would get the 36gb raptor and save $100

Id go for the AMD and a single or dual 74gb raptor. I have a similar setup and its great.

My vote went to the 64, but you should get the 9800XT with it.

A64. It performs better in gaming (important to me 😉), has much faster harddrives, and the video card is probably the best you can get right now in the price/performance area. The XT is a waste of money for another measly ~10%, IMO.
