Poll: Zone Alarm and Sygate Client Problems

Problem: I installed Sygate on 2 PCs, one as the server and other as the client. Unless I turn off the Zone Alarm firewall, it blocks the client IP address and I can't run the Internet connect simultaneously on both PCs. Also, I can't get Sygate to start up automatically so I have to manually start the services.

Request: 1. How do I get Zone Alarm to let the client IP address through and 2. How do I startup the Sygate automatically?

I run WIN 98SE.

Thanks,

Ed

The security settings on zone alarm have to be set on medium on the server. You will still be protected but not invisible.

Both Network and Internet Security of ZA has to be set to Medium...

Also you don't need to start the Sygate programs to share the connection... On the server, Sygate service is started automatically everytime you start your PC... on the client, you don't even need Sygate installed... Just need to set the gateway of the client PC to the IP of the server...

You don't need the Sygate program running on either PC to share the connection...

Thanks to you and ffcd (?) ZA is not intereferring with the client DSL connection. Since Sygate already loads on startup, I did not delete it from the startup. But the next time I start up I will follow your procedures. I am eternally gretaful to the both of you.

One advantage of installing ZA on the client machine is that, ZA can block spyware already in your PC from phoning home... so installing ZA on the client PC does have it's advantages... it's your call...

Glad I can help, have fun!
