Poll: Your preferred computer retail chain

Most people here probably order off the internet, but I'm sure you still occasionally
buy stuff at B & M's. Besides the local mom & pop or computer show,
what's your your preferred chain store?

Fry's has the best combination of selection and prices around here. I hardly buy anything at B&Ms anymore, though.

You forgot CompUSA, by the way.

staples,
service is spotty, but i like to be left alone, until i want something.best buy is way too aggressive with customer service.(i had a real ugly incident with a guy trying to sell me a warranty🙁)

As much as I hate it, I usually end up at Fry's. I don't know many people that really like the place, but for some reason, you always end up there.

Frys. As much as people hate the place, its better than other places in selection and random sales like 99 cent 6 packs and 25 cent hot dogs.

both have local B&M's as well as online.

several other just onlines or out of areas too though

They look like local stores, not national (or at least regional) chains

yep local/regional, but i thought he was talking brick and mortar's...
wouldn't even waste my time going into a national ripoff chain...
bb, cc, gg, cusa, etc...usually all way overpriced, with idiots working there.
i would rather deal with a "real" computer person, than some ignorant kid out for their commision.
no high pressure and good personal service.

Anywhere that doesn't treat it's customers like criminals and check receipts at the door.
You don't have to let them check your receipt. However, if you don't let them do and put their little pink (or whatever color) mark on it, they can legitimately deny any return you try to make on those items.

If I'm not using some crazy HD coupon/PM/MIR deal at Staples/OD/OM and I'm not buying online (usually newegg or SVC), I'm usually buying a Fry's. Say what you will about them, their sale prices usually can't be beat. BB is the freakin' antichrist.

although staples, office depot, and office max sell computer stuff, i personally don't consider them in the same league as the others. i mean, if you're in the market for a soundblaster awe64 card or a copy of half-life (both still at retail price), then sure. but not if you're looking for, say, a geforce4 card. not that bb, compusa, and microcenter always have the latest and greatest stuff, but, for b&m chains, they're way ahead of those office supply stores.
