[POLL] - your neighborhood is so quiet...

... I've left my garage door completely open for nearly 24 hours and didn't know it... nothing was taken. I've left my front door unlocked accidentally overnight, no worries. It's not that this is "one of the safest areas in the country" ... it's just that even in this suburban area, there are no people who walk around to even notice/worry about. True for you ?

I cant go the whole day without someone walking by, but I have left my garage door open, I dont lock my doors when I go out during the day and I have never locked my car doors.
Been here 4 years.

I live in the city and can leave my doors open all night... just as long as the german shepherds don't escape 🙂

No matter how quiet your neighborhood is, I'd lock the doors when you're away. If someone does happen to burglarize you, your insurance company might try to weasel their way out of paying.

If I got robbed first thing I'm doing is standing outside my house, locking the door and kicking it open.
"I dunno officer, looks like they kicked the door in to get inside"

Such is life.

wow, that's a lot of effort... locking the door in the first place really isn't.

I live in a subdivison with only one road in and out, so we have no through traffic. The only people walking around here are people who live in the subdivision.

The only noise, aside from planes taking off (near the airport) and nature, is the idiot son of the neighbors. He's a few years older than me, but he drives an Integra with Type R stickers plus fart can and has the stereo so loud I can hear it in the shower.

I live on a county road and only have 6 neighbors. About 300 ft down from my house the road turns to gravel.

I've never used the lock on my front door, and my neighbor leaves his garage door open all summer - he only closes it if its storming.

I'm on a cul-de-sac and my neighbors have kids so there are normally pedestrians around. Like the others I can leave my garage door wide open and not worry about anyone taking anything.

I've left my garage door open all night and all day on two different occasions. My wife left our front door open all day once-I mean open as in not just unlocked but wide open! Nothing happened.

We live in a nice neighborhood on a quiet cul de sac street. There are only 16 houses on our street and I know all our neighbors. There are no teens on our street either.

People do walk by though, usually just people who live nearby walking their pets or out for a stroll. All the homes cost over half a million so it's not like it's the ghetto.

long island, it's like 80% suburban if not more... but it's more the neighborhood... doesn't even matter what town.

My driveway is .9 mi. long, definately no pedestrians!
Closest neighbor is over 1/2 mi. away.
Still, we lock the house when both of us are gone, you never know.
