I have been using tight VNC and MS remote desktop recently.

Here are my dislike :

VNC seems to have latency issue. Screen lags.

MS remote Desktop looks like a light verion of Terminal Services, which does not provide access to the actual physical desktop console as VNC do, it open another session.

wonder which solution is the best ?

I heard radmin should be better than both of them....

what do you mean? cant you just log in to what you usually log in to at home?
 
Radmin is great and very cheap.
Only complaints: There is a video hook driver issue that hogs CPU resources when controlling a Win2k machine that has been outstanding for like 2 years, and they've delayed the release of version 3.0 more times than Daikatana and DNF combined.
 
The thing I like about tightVNC is that you can use a regular web browser as a client. It's very nice at school where all data is wiped at each reboot.
 
A proggy called Remotely Anywhere 3.8x is what we use. Never have a problem with latency on our LAN (about 500 PC's). Good stuff...and I was previously a fan of Radmin until this came along.

MS remote desktop open ANOTHER session for remote access, thus prgoram open using Remote Desktop does NOT appear on the LOCAL desktop, unlike VNC (use the same session for BOTH local & remote access), correct me if I am wrong.
 
Timbuktu Pro

I like Terminal Services, only problem is, sometimes I need direct console access, which Terminal Services can't do in Windows 2000 (does work in 2003 though). I can get console access with Timbuktu Pro

The initial connection is through a new session. However, you can go to Terminal Services Manager once in the console and connect to another console session.

 
I just started using ultra vnc and it is way quicker than the win vnc I had previously. How does Ultra compare to Tight vnc?

according to MS, "Each session you log on to is independent of other client sessions as well as the server console session. "

Dameware does on the fly installations. Install it on your computer, and tell it to connect to another computer (NT, W2K, XP), and it will install itself on it. It will even uninstall itself, if you want it to.
