It's spelled "Azureus"

I think most of us don't mind using Azureus even though it's a system resource hog because we have an old system to dedicate to Azureus..

Bingo!

It really is a resource hog, but i use my old comp for it 24/7, so i don't care.
Azureus has too many features that i cannot live without.
E.G., limiting individual torrent upload & download speeds.

i have torrent storm and G3 Torrent.

i should start using azeurus but that one hogs my computer up.

using bittorrent crashes my cable modem or router. not sure whats up.

yeah... i get the same problem

I tried ABC and found

A) upload speed limiting is a sad joke
B) there can be 10 seeds with no clients -- but you will not be downloading jack sh!t
C) no placeholders for files on HD so everything gets fragmented to hell
D) in general, download speeds were terrible
E) my wireless connection started randomly dropping out

switched to Azureus, and although it is an incredible resource hog (that's Java for you, the worst language on the planet for actual programs), it works properly, has a better interface than ABC, and downloads about 10 times as fast as ABC. yay!

Azureus 2.1.0.4.
It uses about 2-3% CPU power and 20-60MB RAM. Why is it a big resource hog?

The new version (2.2.0.0) causes 100% CPU load randomly, so for the time being, I'll stick with the old one.

Azureus usually has the most people but I tried it and didn't like it. I went back to ABC and still use it. Like it a lot.

update to JRE 1.5 and itll fix that CPU issue, it did for me anyway

Azureus sucks. I'm not using that resource hog when there are much simpler clients that do what I want. I use BitTornado. Very simple and I can cap the upload so I can still do other internet tasks at the same time. That's all I really need. Also, I've never really found any client to be faster than another. It's all just a roll of dice on who you get connected to and what their upload happens to be. Using BitTornado I have no problems regularly reaching my download cap (3.2 Mbps).
