I love hatchbacks and currently own a 2000 Civic hatchback. Nice little car, although the storage space is somewhat lacking. Fortunately, the wife's car has a nice big boot for stowing groceries and whatnot.

I have a friend who their first car was a honda hatchback...i can't remeber the year of it (it was 80 something)..But i liked that car! they drive a 4-runner now...but i miss that hatchback.

Not necessarily. A hatchback is a wagon with only 2 doors.
What would you consider the VW Golf 4-Door?
It all depends on the car. Subaru's 4-door is a wagon but VW's is a hatchback. Just blows the mind... 😛[/quote]No kidding - hatchback, liftback, 5-door, etc.

Remember the old Nova hatchback?
Looked just like the sedan 'till you got up real close.

Nova

hell yeah! Hatchbacks are awesome! Currently drive a civic HB myself...

One time I purchased a home threater in a box system from the store, which came in a really tall rectanglar box... I just opened the rear gate, folded down the rear seats, and slide the box right in... fit perfectly...

No way could I've got that box home in any sedan...

You should always lock your car anyway. Some insurance companies will try to deny your claim if your car is stolen because you didn't lock it.

some insurance companies? Do you mean that there are actually insurance companies that'll pay out if you haven't locked your car ??? 😀

Heh... I was just giving some insurance companies the benefit of the doubt of having morals and ethics 😉😛

Wouldn't fit in that trunk neither... the box was quite tall (maybe 4 feet?), so it wouldnt fit in that trunk...

Yep, Americans have abandoned the venerable station wagon in favor of mini vans. Hatchbacks are just a poor compromise between the two, or a half assed attempt to get more stowage out of these tiny econoboxes we've saddled ourselves with.

I'd still rather have the wagon. It can hold six passengers with seatbelts. Swallow up an 8' sheet of plywood and close the rear gate. Has plenty of V8 power with a full frame and easy to work on RWD. And wonder of wonders... IT DRIVES LIKE A CAR! :Q

Nice! There are still a few fans of these vehicles around, but I dont think they produce a true "station wagon" anymore. Sure you'll have ones built off a mid-compact size frame (like a taurus or what used to be the cavalier), but nothing like the older full sized ones (caprice, malibu, etc.) that really exemplified what statioin wagons were all about. I'd take one over a minivan anyday. They could handle a lot more abuse with their full sized frames and had much more power with a true v8 monster under the hood than newer minivans can. (not talking about full-size vans though, just the newer, mostly v6 fwd minivans). I really miss those...
oh, btw....not a fan of hatchbacks....it is a rarity that i see one that looks decent in my eyes...
