POLL: YACT: Hatchbacks, yes or no?

Turkish

I noticed that a lot of Americans hate hatchbacks, being from the other side of the Atlantic, it really is weird for me 😕 Do you hate them? If yes, why?

I have a focus sedan but wish i had a hatchback(cough SVT cough).

What kind of car do you drive?

I'm not sure if the Supra is considered a hatchback or not. My last car was, and I liked it.

EDIT: Apparently it's considered a "liftback"

Not necessarily. A hatchback is a wagon with only 2 doors.

I've owned several over time. A 240Z, a CRX, an Eclipse GSX, and an Integra GSR.

My minivan has a hatchback. It isn't too bad. My REAL vehicles all have either a real trunk or real, honest to god swinging back doors (Yay full sized van!)

And if Americans hate hatchbacked vehicles, why are SUVs so popular?

well, i thought americans hated them until i posted this poll here. most of them i know hate them :Q
the term hatchback is used for stationwagons with 2 doors. SUVs are simply different than hatchbacks.

It really depends on the hatchback. IMHO most look like complete ass.
The Porsche 944 comes to mind as a nice hatchback.

It depends on the car. Some cars look fugly with hatchbacks, other's look good with them. Sometimes the hatchback doesn't match the cars styling.

Yep, Americans have abandoned the venerable station wagon in favor of mini vans. Hatchbacks are just a poor compromise between the two, or a half assed attempt to get more stowage out of these tiny econoboxes we've saddled ourselves with.

I'd still rather have the wagon. It can hold six passengers with seatbelts. Swallow up an 8' sheet of plywood and close the rear gate. Has plenty of V8 power with a full frame and easy to work on RWD. And wonder of wonders... IT DRIVES LIKE A CAR! :Q

What would you consider the VW Golf 4-Door?
It all depends on the car. Subaru's 4-door is a wagon but VW's is a hatchback. Just blows the mind... 😛

You should always lock your car anyway. Some insurance companies will try to deny your claim if your car is stolen because you didn't lock it.
