We all know there are 2 cores in X2 and their performance/potential vary ever so slightly (or quite largely if you've got a shi*ty one :D ) I just thought I'd throw this poll in here to see what the trend is. It may not have any practical use but still interesting nontherless, IMO.

From AMD's diagram found Here, it seems like the main channel to the on-die memory contoller is the Core 0. Would that mean the Core 0 is more stressed in general computing environment? In my case, Core 0 tends to overclock much less than Core 1. Is it by design? or is it just plain simple that the Core 0 is inferior to Core 1 in my case?

Let's share the facts and thoughts. Test your X2 and let us know. How you tested and How it turned out.

For example, via Windows Task Manager I set the affinity manually. When I run Prime95 with VCore 1.425, my Core 1 runs forever at 2.75GHz. But the Core 0 fails miserably within a min.

On my X2 3800 core 0 will run at 2.7Ghz at 1.4v, but core 1 fails instantly and will even lock up the computer. Both cores run rock solid at 1.375v @ 2.5Ghz.

I don't even both to check by core. They are both stable at 2.55 at 1.475v, so I don;t care to spend time finding out.

My 4400+ core 0 is weaker than core 1. Core 1 will run at 2.4ghz @ 1.28v Core 0 dies instantly in prime95. 1.375v brings both core running stable @ 2400mhz (267x9)

cool

USDM reports that at stock, vcore goes between 1.296 and 1.316. I need to remount my TT Big Typhoon though. Temps are too high. Want to get it to 2.6 on 1.4, which it looks like it can do.

well my 4400+ is a 1.3v core. My board undervolts some. So I get left with below 1.3 volts @ all stock settings, and its stable that way too. I never tried to go higher although I probably will soon.

2400mhz @ 1.375v (1.32 in CPU-z)

stock is reported at 1.28 on DFI. This is after a cmos reset. On the DFI LP ultra-D

How about doing a quick benchmark with affinity set at core 0 and core 1 respecitvely? Like running Doom3 timedemo? I'm at work now so I can't do it now. I'm assuming they should perform identically?

I had REALLY bad luck with my 3800+. Core 0 can go past 2.5Ghz as far as I can tell. But Core 1 craps out at 2.2GHz.

Really pissed me of, mostly becuase it's a toledo and I'm the only guy that I have heard of that didn't get a good O/C out of it. :(

My X2 3800+ Toledo Core0 does 2.7ghz on 1.45V but Core1 can only do 2.5ghz on 1.45V. Core1 would fail prime at anything over 2.55ghz. So far I can get it rock solid at 2.4ghz at around 1.4V on both cores.
