Hey guys..
I'm a huge fan of the WWF. But lately I noticed that the shows were getting kinda lame. Besides Stone Cold and Triple H, I don't root for anyone else.
Let me know what you think...Is is time WCW fot better?

I've watched it since 1986 and I have yet to become bored with any of it...

HHH, Rock, Hardyz, Lita, Jericho, Benoit, Acolytes, Hardcore Holly, Austin, Kurt Angle....I root for em all...

Uh oh..you set me off.

I've been watching wrestling forever now, and I have to say that at this point in time the WWF has more talent on its roster than its ever had in the past. While they've lost a couple guys in the past few years such as Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Owen, Foley, etc., the overall talent level is incredibly better than any other period. I'd say that 7 of the first eight PPVs last year were damn good, and showed off their ability to put out an overall good show.

I mean, a couple years ago, you had guys like the Godfather and Billie Gunn going for the IC title, but today you have some of the greatest wrestlers in history going for the title like Benoit/Jericho/Guerrero. I can't recall seeing a better tag division that can easily put up ****+ matches on a given PPV since the late 80's/early 90's.

If you look at 2000, there were a LOT of matches that were close to *****, and perhaps equaled the amount of matches that reached that plateau in 95'-'97. And if you look at the NUMBER of guys that have reached that amount in the past year, it probably equals the total number from the entire decade.

This is totally not to say there's not a whole load of crap in the WWF, because there is. I can never stand to watch a FULL two hour show or three hour PPV, but all the good totally offsets it for me. It's like the lottery..if you lose, you don't lose a whole lot, but boy if you win, you WIN.

And as for WCW, the booking has totally improved since the new company took over, and the past couple of PPVs have shown good direction, but they are quite aways off from the WWF. The main problem is the way they're developing their young guys, because they do have incredibly awesome matches, but they never make too much mention of them, and thus they don't have much opportunity to grow.

I really can't see any comparison between the WWF and the UFC. I've seen multiple "shoot fighting" events in the past such as UFC VI which Shamrock won, and the one from November, and some PRIDE events (Japanese shoot fighting)..and I really can't say they're a whole lot fun to watch. Sure it's a nice change of pace to see unscripted matches, but they typically don't last a whole lot longer than a minute or two. You don't get to witness the athleticism that a scripted match can bring you, and overall the excitement isn't there for me. I'd take a ladder match with the Hardy Boyz vs. whomever over a match with Shamrock/Abbott/etc.

And on another note, there's a great greatest matches of the 90's article out there. If you look at it closely, the two names that appear the most, Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart are both gone now, and that's really decreased my interest somewhat, but the two essentially paved way for the new generation of wrestlers, most notably both of their feuds with Austin that pushed him to the moon.

Okay, I'm done now..I hope my time typing that didn't go completely wasted.

EDIT: link for best matches of the 90's is here.

I suggest you pick up a copy of Summerslam or something and check out the TLC match..and I'm sure it'll change your views on what these guys do. I've shown MANY guys that feel the same way as you, and they've felt completely differently afterward.

Check out WWF Bumps for some great clips of some matches..or check out some recommendations here.

And I suggest a lock of one of the two threads here.. :)
