From Altima 3.5 SE specs: Variable capacity exhaust system. WTH is this suppost to be exactly anyone know? >>
The exhaust manifold has 2 holes, i think, one that's open, and is straight, and another that is curved, kinda like a bypass, and is usually closed. When you open up the 3.5, both open up, allowing more gas to exit when you're gunning it. Correct me if i'm wrong, it's something to that effect.
I'd take the Altima over a scooby. Sure, the scooby can go fast, but I like the Altima better. Plus there's more room in the backseat
Edit: straight from the altima webpage...

Variable Intake System
The engine's Variable Intake System promotes more efficient engine breathing. It ensures plenty of thrust off the line; then as rpm rise (e.g., when you're passing or accelerating), it opens a shorter air path in the manifold, for a more direct pipeline to Altima's impressive horsepower.
