I was watching the Golf Channel one day with my dad and we saw these set of golf clubs offered by Pure Spin(purespin.com) Golf. I went ahead and ordered it well in advance of my father's birthday(the 10th). Well 10 days later, I noticed that I was short on funds and decided to cancel the order. They told me they did. Fast forward to January 2001. Purespin calls me up and tells me that they're about ready to ship my order I think, WTF? I tell them that I cancelled and I thought that was that. Today, I got my bank statement stating that I had only such and such amoutn left and that I was charged $159.80. My mail carrier came really late today and when I decided to call up the company, the automated recording system told me they were only open monday-friday from some time to 5:00p.m. CT.

I called my bank and they told me I should contact this company first. I think I should just go ahead on over there and dispute the charges.

Yea? Nay?

i'd personally call the company first before disputing the charge. Just so you go along the official lines. Most likely they'll refund your money and all will be well. If you happen to be low on funds, then i'd dispute the charge.

I only have $200 left in my account, and the check for my CU confirmation is $200...it hasn't cleared yet...

No business activity will be done anywhere until monday anyway.
Call the company and tell them that you cancelled and have a statement that you got charged.

Do you have proof that you cancelled your order with them?
Any email contact or letters of comfirmation or of cancellation?

dabuddha got it right. Call the company and complain, then call the CC company and advise.
