Poll: WoW or wait for Guild Wars?

guildwars played a lot like Diablo 2

which isn't bad, mind you, but it didn't seem very RPG'ish to me.

good thing the game will be free to play online.

GW is terrible... was actually worse that it was during E3 this last preview event...

all the big name PVP guilds are in WoW right now and we having a blast..
(when we can get through the que)
GW sucks...
no thanks

I played during one of the Guild Wars open betas... didn't enjoy it.

WoW is fun. Too bad Blizzard can't keep their servers up.

I'm sticking with EQ2 🙂

how does it compare to wow or guild wars?...sorry i'm an uber-noob when it comes to mmorpg's

This is obviously a hotly contest topic, however here is my best take on them.

EQ2 has very detailed graphics, and huge amount of quite detailed content. The pace of gameplay is very slow compared to WoW or guildwars and it is more 'hardcore' than either, requiring significant investments of time and effort to progress. The crafting element has been more or less spun out into it's own game and is very deep and complicated, and is not linked to a character's fighting level like in WoW.

i wont be paying for a game monthly; and guild wars was a disappointment in the beta

Paying for monthly gaming is the most idiotic, stupid, moronic, incomprehensible thing I have ever heard of. Unless you have no job and aren't in school...paying to play a game that you ALREADY BOUGHT is beyond my scope of rational thinking.

This is why Guild Wars is the only MMORPG that I'll even look at--no monthly fees. 🙂

I played both WOW and Guild for a little bit. WOW was pretty fun, but I'm going to stick to COH. I like COH alot.

Seems like COH has a pretty huge following...but again, I'm not paying them to play with something I bought.

Whats with the anti monthly fee sentiment? 10 to 15 dollars a month for a game that you can easily invest 2 hours a day in is a steal. Most people will invest even more time than that, and refrain from buying other games or entertainment related products because they are already engrossed in an MMORPG. Because of this, if you get sucked into a good MMORPG, like EQ2, you actually save money on entertainment on a monthly basis.

Free MMO's just don't work, they suffer from loads of issues on the developer side because they developers just don't have the capital to do fix bugs, upgrade servers, fatter pipes, etc. Since they aren't getting paid, the CSRs are usually few and far between and usually useless. Regardless of how well intentioned a free MMO is, they usually degenerate pretty quickly. Granted, there are a number of MUDs that are free, but lets face facts. It doesn't take the same servers that EQ2, WoW, and GW run on to run a text based MUD.

COH is $13/month:

Game $50
Monthly fee ($13) x 1 year of play $156 +
-----------------------------------------------
$206 / year

$206 a year!!! Are you crapping on my face!!! :Q

I can invest near the same amount of monthly time into CS:S and get a hell of lot more enjoyment + get the greatest single player game ever made in HL2 + a butt-load of future mods for the game, ALL for just $49 for LIFE!!! Where's the deal?? You're spending OVER 4x that amount on ONE game that lacks any sp aspect!

I poured a load of money into my new rig--but I would never think of spending $156 EXTRA dollars a year for permission to play anyones game!

But, that's only my 2 cents--if you just can't life w/o one of these MMORPG's, then go for it...I've got no problem with that. I would just never be able to justify the price.
