Soon, the automatic driving vehicles will be available to the public. Using GPS, sensors and camera systems for depth perception, a car could drive it self. The question is, would you allow it?

I'd probably get a car with that feature for commutes and for cruising around drunk but I'd have to have another car to actuatly drive around.

Nice long road trip sitting back watching a DVD and not having to worry about the road, hell yes!! But I would want every car in the lane on the freeway to be under auto control though... you'd never slow below the speed limit...

it might work and all, but I like driving the car. Maybe thats why I have a car that has no digital anything, no power anything, and is 32 years old.

No way, driving a car requires complex processing of many things. I do not even like the idea of steer by wire.

i hope they have completely automated urban highways in the next 15 years... i bet you could really lower the commute time if computers were controlling it all

Oh, I would only get a car that had drove itself many many years after it was introduced. Hell if I'm going to beta test something like that:D

Given the "crash" rates of Windows OS, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 ft poll (no puns intended)

No. I would disable it. Just as I will disable "features" like daytime running lights.

think about this one: If it wrecks, who gets the ticket, you or the car? Yeah, I'll stick to making my own bonehead moves, thank you.

err... we're not talking about cruise control here. mechanical failure == not your fault.

If it were proven to be safe, I would use it in a heart beat. Just program where you want to go and take a nap or whatever.

a broken tail light isn't your fault, but i've paid dearly for that too...
imagine that, paying the city 35 dollars for a $1.50 light that i can't even see when my car has the light on...

on the other hand, if tail light all of the sudden explodes for no reason and damages another car, the liability is going to most likely lie with the MFG.

Technology is great an all, but I'd rather be in control of my 2500 lbs speeding death coffin. There are some things that shouldn't be completely controlled by computers.
