So if you wanted the server to run for a year it would cost you $10 * 24 * 365 = $87600.

How about 'No way in hell'?

Unless it was for a single skirmish against another clan, or a 256 proc Itanium 2 machine with 2 petabyte RAM and a 100TB link I'd say it was a tiny bit too expensive to my taste.

Duh... that's why I said per hour. If you want something available 24/7 you lease them monthly

Isn't that kind of pricey?

I don't think my clan pays that much for our 20 man CS pub server... I believe it is around 100 bucks a month.

Private servers should be much cheaper.

yes. $24/month is usually the best price you can find on servers. it would be stupid to pay $10/hour.

Servers like that are rented out to multiple users at once. You don't have exclusive rights to them. Just FYI
