A thread about a poor soul being reduced to dial-up (as am I) inspired me for this thread. Simple question, how many of you would move to a different house/appartment simply so you could get broadband? Along those same lines how many of you would pass up a house/appartment you loved because you couldn't get high speed access? Vote away.

I moved to the next town over. Broadband here rules all.

depends on many other factors ... I suppose if the house was a real bargain ... I would have spend under my budget .. and I would then get a Satellite and ISDN line ... Sat for downloads .. ISDN for games/uploads ... But it would have be a really good deal ....

Passing up a house I don't live in is one thing..moving from my current location is another.

Yah, anyone with a clear view of the southern sky can get sat access. Myself included. But paying $99 a month for flaky broadband that gets you lovely 800-1500 ms pings isn't my idea of fun. I'd rather get isdn (worlds biggest rape) which I'll probably be doing soon.

i'll interpret the question as "would you move into an area that did not have broadband" and flip yes to no and vice versa.

so no I would not move into an area without broadband, so yes I'd pass up a house I loved.

Where's some places u can get some killer broadband.

I know in NJ and NY you can get optimum with 9.5mps/1mpbs. for like $25

In S Korea u can get 10mbit/10mbit for $20 There soon upgrading to 20mbit/20mbit

And in Texes n some busy midwest places you can get roadrunner 3.5mpbs/512k for like $35

I'd move there if I had the chance :p! Could host my own server on those kinda conns

Well, I have broadband now, so when the time comes to move I'd say that having broadband in an area I'm interested in would sway my decision.

I voted Yes, but in reality I would live with Dialup if that's where my life led me.

I would not move into a place that didn't have broadband. I was once duped by the DSL company into believing that the place I was moving to had service available. Turns out it was too far from the switch, I ended up moving 3 months later (roommate was a bitch, but broadband was a contributing factor).

You live in MS?

Lots of people in the southern part of the state have broadband. Cable One offers it all over the place down there.

I would at the very least live with IDSL/ISDN if I had to... I had to endure with that for a while when I first moved back to NJ from college. That changed as soon as I found out that I could get a broadband cable. Served me well ever since.

yes if it was the same distance or better to work, but I'd rather live REALLY close to work and have NO broadband.
