Wait, so they just automatically assumed she was raped with no evidence to suggest that?

I've been hearing something about a possible video showing him kissing her a few weeks prior, and murmurs of people seeing them being intimate at the convention. So, perhaps the police did have testimony and indications that they were a couple.

Who knows? Details fuzzy still at this point.

Where's the 29 year old when this happened and after it happened? He gave her booze and then isn't watching out for her? Asshole.

Parents should have smelled this rat fucker from a mile away, yet they let him take a 17yr old (kids are wildely stupid at this age) to this thing?

Whole thing pisses me off. You watch out for people, the 29 year old dropped the ball, and the parents obviously dropped the ball. And 17 year old made a mistake,... holy shit, that's what they do, a lot. That's why they're 17 and they can't appreciate making good life decisions yet.

Oh please.... 17 is a kid now? was she still playing with her dolls?
Stop generalising... At 17 i had a job, went to college and used protection, i am 26 now, and do the same stuff... adulthood is nothing but a imaginary line
I do agree that the guy seems to be an asshole, and this girl is stupid (or was looking for it)

Of course. Are you telling me you don't rape and try to murder every single woman you sleep with? I guess the weird assumptions about relationships are why police officers have incredibly high divorce rates.
Same is true of lawyers who seek to put people in jail.
Same is true of judges who give harsh sentences to people who love each other.
Same is true for the general population that demands all men be thrown in jail and all women virtually put under house arrest, unable to go out or do anything.

Still haven't seen any credible evidence that they were dating or romantically linked at all.

Why not? Thd only problem that i can see is him letting her get drunk
She didn`t got pregnant, or got a disease
In the end arresting her boyfriend was the biggest problem caused

She is the stupid one, for wanting a way older guy....
I blame her parents more than the couple

You guys realize your daughters are going to be sexual, right?

So. would you do the same thing this girls parents did. let some 29 year old neckbeard pick up your 16 year old daughter and drive her to comic con and "Chaperone her, to make sure she is safe"

he is stupid messing around with an immature 16 year old. Why even expose yourself to such risks.

There are plenty of non jailbait women to hang with.

more update

Police said the girl was climbing a gate at the Marriott Hotel after an altercation with an older man. That’s when she fell and was found at 1 a.m. Sunday near the pool at the hotel on Harbor Drive, near the San Diego Convention Center.

Since the incident, police have had difficulty piecing together the circumstances because the girl did not remember what happened. She was under the influence of drugs, police said.
...
A 29-year-old man, Justin Kalior, whom the girl got into a fight with before her fall, was arrested on unrelated allegations of having sexual contact with a minor and providing her alcohol. He will not face any other charges, police said.

Yes.

1. She's already fucking him.
2. She's going to do it anyway behind your back.
3. She's already fucking him.
4. They've already fucked.
5. It's good to know where she is and have tabs on her.
6. Would you rather she go alone and not have someone to keep her safe?

Pretty much this. You agreeing lets you get the details of what is going to be happening: where they will be, contact information, etc. You saying no means she does it anyway and doesn't tell you a thing. No check in texts, etc.

The latest story is he didn't physically beat her. They were fighting and she tried to climb over a fence and fell 6' onto her head. Plus she was on drugs.

They admitted to sexual relations though.

The guy is fucked. Hope that pussy was worth never getting hired for a job again unless it's janitorial.
Update: According to a copy of the police report obtained by Polygon through an open records request, Kalior and the girl had "a physical altercation," one witness said. The report then details what lead to Kalior's arrest.

"While Harbor Police was speaking with that witness, Kalior returned without prompting. Harbor Police spoke to Kalior and he denied any dating relationship with [the girl] but admitted to bringing her to a party at the hotel that night where there were a lot of alcohol beverages. A consensual search of Kalior's cellphone revealed a break-up text dated 7/15/14 in which he used her nick-name ... and he referenced their dating relationship. A short time later, [the girl] woke up in the hospital and confirmed she and Kalior have been in a sexual/dating relationship."
The charges against Kalior are for unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

i have two daughters, 17 and 19. while i accept that they are going to be sexual beings in their own time, which may or may not have already started, i will not enable or contribute to a 29 yr old getting it on with either of them.

and from what ive read on this, the guy had texts in his phone that proved they had a sexual relationship prior to her 17th birthday, which could have been the cops fuel for the charges.

Depends on the state and if the parents consented to the relationship. It also depends on if he could reasonable believe she was overage. If he has proof she represented herself as 20 (which is what he said he thought she was to police) then he is off the hook.
