Suppose a magic pill existed such that if taken 3x daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it would fullfill all the nutritional and caloric requirements to survive and maintain your current physique. Consumption of this pill will leave you satisfied, you feel no hunger but the pill only works if you never eat or drink anything with calories ever again. Assume you will gain a lb for every calorie consumed while on this pill, once you go on this pill you can't go off of it for the rest of your life. Exercise will result in weight loss until you've reached the optimal weight for your height/age where thereafter it'll only keep you healthy as far as cardio goes. Do you sacrifice the taste of everything you've ever known for this?

edit: obviously inspired by the do you work thread. :p

This particular pole not withstanding, as a professional Chef with 35+ years experience, I can tell you that ~85% would take the blue pill. 5% wouldn't take the pill only because they must cook for someone else. Thank God for the remaining 10%. America has never had a strong culinary tradition except in the southern states. perhaps being such a young country has something to do with it. I personally blame the changing economy and a society which devalues service jobs. We are now in the fast food generation and the future looks bleak. Food trends occur in roughly thirty year cycles and, I may be retired before America regains it's sanity. :(

Nope. Removing the option of eating kills it. However, I would probably forgo eating most of the time, if I could just skip a pill when I want to go out to eat.

That would make it too easy to vote for the pill. There has to be a drawback... an all or nothing sorta deal!

edit: It's not like you can't eat still, you can have a strip of bacon and run it off over a month. ;)

I understand. I just laid out the reason why I voted against.

I love food. I wouldn't take the pill, even if it did make my life a lot more convenient. I consider trying new and interesting foods to be one of the greatest pleasures in life.

I don't wanna maintain my current physique. Granted, I wouldn't be upset if I did, but I wanna keep improving.

You can't run 100lb off in a month.

I wouldn't take the fvcking pill if you paid me.

Eating is one of life's great pleasures (I think my second favorite one actually.)

one pound per calorie ... no way I'd ever take the pills, because I'd probably gain like 3000 pounds per day ......

Yes I would do it ... so long as it also regulated cholesterol levels etc. in the blood as I'm genetically pre-disposed :( If it was just calories and satiety, I couldn't do it.

How do I get this pill? if I have to chunk down an equal amount of $$$ for it I'd rather eat. I'm plenty good at regulating my intake.
