Poll: Would you buy this loaded camcorder for $199?

I'm REALLY considering it for a gift for my sister for Christmas 2004. I hate to buy electronic stuff this early though, because if it goes bad, it's going to be out of warranty.

I thought about it for myself, but I don't hardly use my digital camera as it is, plus I don't have a DVD burner to fully utilize a MiniDV camera. Maybe if I had kids or something, but by the time I do, there'll be something even better then MiniDV out.

oh, youre canadian. that explains a lot.

You beat me to the punch caitlion. Now that I know he's Canadian I will forever excuse his behavior as I would that of the mentally handicapped.

Oh, and Rossman, get the cam. I think I will (for all who do order it, click through Rossmans website to get it).

And thanks again for your help with those questions the other day Ross.

I'm a big burly lumberjack that cuts trees down with my johnson. Then I club beavers for fur pelts for my toque, eat some pemmican, wrap the end in black tape, and use it as a hockey stick.

Did I miss any stereotypes?

A very good deal, but I have very little need of a camcorder. I'd put that $200 towards a better still camera, myself.

I'm in the same situation. I believe it comes with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty and I get another year for purchasing it with my VISA.

So 2 years warranty for a $199 camcorder, their PC already has a FireWire card so they should be set right out of the box.

Don't mind her m4h, she can't decide what to get her boyfriend for Valentine's Day, but then again their relationship might also be over.

ross...if you are looking for a good, small camcorder that is a great deal. It is not a pro quality, two thousand dollar one like some here will be chippping in telling you to buy, but it works great. I just sold my Sharp. I loved it, but couldnt really find a use for it. The question you might want to ask yourself is what are you going to use it for? I found that taking pictures worked better for what I wanted.

I am interested in one as well. The only con seems to be low-lux recording. Anyone have any experience with it?

hmm... i realize that was intended as an insult.. but.. i dont see how it would offend me. i also dont see how the two relate. since my boyfriend and i are having troubles, am i supposed to just let it end and not even show that i care enough to try and make things better?

edit: sorry rossman, this conversation will end, on my end at least.

Thanks for the helpful insight.

I'm a little weary because I've heard indoor video doesn't look that great.

I keep forgetting if Canon or Sony makes a better $600-$800 camcorder?

Maybe if she didn't spend so much money on ricing her car out and Valentine's Day gifts for shallow guys only interested in her for sex, she could get that boob job she's been whining about ... so she can get even MORE shallow guys only interested in her for sex!

  • BARBER:
    I'm a lumberjack, and I'm okay.
I sleep all night and I work all day.

    MOUNTIES:
    He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

    BARBER:
I cut down trees. I eat my lunch.
    I go to the lavatory.
    On Wednesdays I go shoppin'
And have buttered scones for tea.

    MOUNTIES:
He cuts down trees. He eats his lunch.
    He goes to the lavatory.
    On Wednesdays he goes shopping
And has buttered scones for tea.

    He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

    BARBER:
I cut down trees. I skip and jump.
I like to press wild flowers.
    I put on women's clothing
    And hang around in bars.

    MOUNTIES:
He cuts down trees. He skips and jumps.
He likes to press wild flowers.
    He puts on women's clothing
    And hangs around in bars?!

    He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

    BARBER:
I cut down trees. I wear high heels,
    Suspendies, and a bra.
    I wish I'd been a girlie,
    Just like my dear Papa.

    MOUNTIES:
He cuts down trees. He wears high heels,
    Suspendies ... and a bra?!

    [talking]
What's this? Wants to be a girlie?! Oh, My!
And I thought you were so rugged! Poofter!...

    [singing]
    He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

    He's a lumberjack, and he's okaaaaay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.
