Maybe I'm weird (well, I know I'm weird), but sometimes I've wished I could buy a whole bunch of socks without having to go to the store and purchase them 5 or 10 at a time. 20 would be nice, but 50 seems a little much.

So I was thinking of starting up a website in the vein of JustWhiteShirts.com to allow people to buy socks in bulk off the Internet. Now, think for a moment and respond honestly: Would you use such a service?

Ideally:
- Costs would obviously be kept very low.
- Name brand but not designer socks. Hanes?
- Shipping free or close to it.
- Minimum purchase of a 20-pack.
- Alternator-shaped containers.

Don't worry about advising me on the logistics, this is purely an idea consideration phase. Would any of you go for it?

justwhiteshirts.com doesn't sell just white shirts.

I think that, in the end, you would end up having to diversify, just like that site.

I remember buying a huge package of socks from Amazon.com. I prefer online stores to have a large selection so I can get a lot of things in one place and they can all be shipped together. Although sometimes when you buy through Amazon you are actually buying from some partner or something so it gets shipped separately. So if anything I'd want a competitor to have more selection, not less.

For white tube socks I prefer CostCo B&M.

Word, I already buy socks in bulk.

The thing with socks is you have to feel them so it's not a good internet buy no matter how low the price is.

I would love to be able to buy socks in bulk. My feet sweat terribly and I go through a lot of socks, especially in the winter. It would definitely be nice to be able to buy them in bulk.

Heh, I actually did check Costco B&M before ordering online. They didn't have my size, though. Socks that claim to fit 7-12/13 feel painfully tight to me even though I wear a size 12 shoe.

I also kind of like those soft, loose, airy socks designed for diabetics, even though I'm not diabetic and not even overweight. Those are even tougher to find.

I wouldn't. I wear my socks until they get holes in them, which usually takes quite awhile. My trips to the store to buy them are therefore infrequent, so it doesn't bother me too much. Plus the store is < 1 mile away from me, so I don't mind the drive anyway.

It would have to be bulk USED socks.

QFT.

OP - would you be stocking polyester/sport socks in this online store? I blow holes through my $10 Nike running socks like nobody's business. It would be even better if you stock Adidas or NB ones - those seem to be much more durable.
