Everyone's hands are shaped differently. What's comfortable for Joe may not be for Marry. Would you pay for a custom mouse?

one that's molded to the shape of your hand and buttons placed exactly where you want them to be?

I for one would pay for such a mouse...how much? dunno, depends on the technology (laser, optical, wireless..etc.)

just one of my entrepreneurial ideas :p

Could it be made out of leather or wood? It would be cool if I could find a mouse that matches my coffee table.

it prolly wouldn't last as long as you'd like, but sure, why not?

Only my fingertips touch my mouse, it doesn't need to conform to my hand.

Do the rest of you lay your whole hand flat on top of your mouse?

Pretty much, yeah. I bought this mouse because it's large enough to do so comfortably for me.

This is an interesting idea for "serious" gamers who often have trouble finding the perfect mouse. The only problem is the cost - right now there are plenty of choices at reasonable prices. Most gamers won't be willing to shell out the extra cost for a custom mouse.

I've never seen someone only lay their fingertips on a mouse...doesn't that get really tiresome after a while?

when you say only your fingertips...do you mean you click your mouse buttons like someone would hit the keys on a piano?

No.

(1) Basically only my fingertips touch the mouse (and occasionally a portion of my palm might brush against it) - the top shape is meaningless.

(2) I'm cheap.

(3) I like to have my hand in different positions throughout my time using a device. I wouldn't want to be forced into one position.

Me holding my mouse.

If you lay your whole hand flat on your mouse, you can't move it with your fingers. You'd have to move your entire to forearm to move the mouse. You actually use a mouse that way? I can move mine with just my fingers -- my whole arm doesn't have to move.

I find that moving the mouse with my forearms give me less of a CP feel....

I just tried moving it with only my fingers and find that it's impossible to do that without moving the wrist as well, which creates the CP problem for me :(

Of course. I'd buy anything custom made. Would I pay more for it? That depends. I might for a custom mouse.

Nice. I hold my mouse the same way too. I just tried resting my whole hand on it and it felt uncomfortable as hell.
