Surprising few amount of people actually vote in US elections.

Would You Be More Likely to Cast Election Vote Online?

People blame apathy, or lack of interest in politics for low voter turn out

I think a lot of people are too busy/lazy to make the effort to go to polling station.
I think you would get a ton more people voting if you made it easier for them......log in and click a mouse.

You should qualify this by stating that this is a US problem. I think in most other countries voter participation is at least 70% or so. Since I already vote in every election making voting available online would not change my voting habits.

I would guess 95% of board users are based in US?

That is what my question was aimed at given it's election day 😉

Not quibbling with you, I just think it is interesting that the US has this lack of interest in voting.

wouldn't make any difference for national elections, i always vote in those

it WOULD make a differnce for local/state elections, i don't go out of my way to get to the polls for those (mainly because i have been moving so much lately and don't really feel a part of the community/state where i live yet)

i would vote in all elections that i am eligible for if it was done online

No.

Since they're all liars anyway, I just let other people waste their time.

Just seeing the commercials for candidates sickens me. This guy did this and that guy did this... but me... I'm squeaky clean. Yeah, bl0w me... fuggin political figures...

EDIT>> Sorry I got emotional and crapped in your thread... I'm ok now. 😀

Im for Electronic voting.

But the internet isn't the most secure place in the world, i would be wary of an online vote.

I buy stuff online all the time, but if someone stole my info or ripped me off in some way id know it (spending on my credit card i didn't approve or items not showing up). If someone ripped off my vote i would never know it since individual votes are not released (when i see 60% for so and so i would just assume i was in the minority.)

So no, it would not change my habbits.

only one country on earth has more election days per year than the US and they have lower turnout. i forget which it is, switzerland maybe?

I just voted and since my polling place is within a mile of my home online voting won't really change my habits.

I would defiantely vote twice as much as i do now. Most of the time its lack of time going to the polls that keeps me from voting. Would be great to run up and just vote after dinner or while I am at the office.
