[POLL] would people drink alcohol if the buzz didn't exist ?

I drink occasionally, but I almost never get a buzz or any effect from the alcohol, so I guess I still would drink.

i disagree. i think we are going for the alcohol induced euphoria.

 
I drink for the effects of the drug. I might still drink it for the wonderful warm feeling that toxic chemical causes when it washes down your throat, but if that wasn't there, then to hell with it.
 
I never got the buzz, and went straight to the headache... so that's why I'm against drinking if you ask me. Just trying to understand if that's all that's behind drinking... or if people like the taste or like the fact that they're doing something they really shouldn't be doing (health-wise). Or maybe cause it's the cool thing to do (especially in college).

i've been given honey brown (which actually tastes decent to me) and I also did too many shots of vodka (which tasted terrible - and had the worst headache of my life, I think worst than migraines)... and some other occasion a shot of jagermeister (terrible also). Some Bacardi and other random drinks that never did anything for me.
 
the taste is something you have to get used to. if it wasn't for the effects i never would have started. of course now i drink for the the flavor, but that's still secondary to the buzz. and by buzz you don't even have to get drunk, even one drink can just take the edge off a long day.
 
Jack and Coke, properly mixed, is freaking delicious. Mixing the two has a synergistic effect.
Some beers are also pretty good.
So yeah.
 
definitely yes. I'm a home brewer, and seldemly have more then one or two beers at a time, but I drink them because they taste great, and are actually slightly better for you then soda.

Um, not really a good comparison. He isn't saying the taste was gone, just the effects. I actually like the taste of alot of alchohols but have never been drunk. It took my wife and I over a year to finish a 1 liter bottle of Vanilla Absolute. The reason was that we only put tiny amounts in drinks because we like the flavor. There's something about alchohol that makes the flavor better. Try flavoring hot chocolate with Amaretto or Baily's and then try using the coffee syrup flavors, while they taste similar the real stuff is just better.

I imagine the sale of harsh alchohol would drop, like everclear and high proof rum's if the effect was not there anymore. I still see sipping liquers as selling well.

Me and my friends exclusively drink Sharp's and O'Doul's cause it tastes great with none of the effects.:beer::roll:
