Yes, but could he have reasonably foreseen the results of his policies? I blame HW almost as much for bringing it all back even though he should have known better.

I once tried to define evil. I came up with (edit) "selfish action reasonably expected to harm innocents". By that definition Trump is a special kind of evil.

Nancy's astrologer should have warned him...

Our lifetimes + Eisenhower? How old are you people?!

The first presidential election I remember was Nixon/Kennedy in 1960. Of course, I was living in western Mass at the time, so EVERYONE was pro-Kennedy.

As horrible as Nixon was, he still belonged to that old guard of politicians who understood that some issues transcended partisan politics.
Wait, you’re talking about the guy who sent a secret envoy to sabotage Vietnam peace talks, because he was afraid peace might cost him the election??

Hey, he was just starting the current republican tradition of committing treason to get elected, at least 3 of the last 5 elected republican presidents.

I rate Reagan as second as he set up the conditions that allowed the worst, trump, to be elected. we're lucky that trump was so incompetent that he didn't do more damage than he did and that a lot of what he did were EOs that can be reversed in the same manor.

One of the three Republican Presidents after Trump. He'll also be the last.

A more exact number is tough, gauging if the religion is primed enough - or if they will be competent enough to get the job done.

Well... some issues, anyway. Perhaps it's a sad commentary that even that would have been a step above where Trump was.

Nixon was getting sexually assaulted, Reagan was HIV resulting from it, Bush Sr was getting kicked out of the family for getting HIV, Bush Jr was losing your job and health insurance and thus access to drugs to deal with the HIV, and then Turmp is it going from HIV to AIDS and then getting COVID.

Too bad this isn’t multiple choice. Every Republican from Nixon on. Nixon - no morals - zero! Reagan for starting the war on the middle class. GWH, for knowing better, but not acting (actually had morals). Bush Jr - fvcking war criminal (with lots of help from Cheney); led to the unnecessary deaths of thousands of young American men so full of promise and physical and mental injuries beyond imagining. Devastated thousands of Middle East communities with his reign of terror. Trump - 'legitimizing' the alt-right nationalism, ‘legitimizing' racism, 'legitimizing' phony religion (prosperity gospel - have they even read the fvcking gospel?). Continued the war on the middle class with even greater mendacity. Kavanaugh - are you serious - past justices heard rolling in their graves. Oh and fvck democracy, that’s only for those pussy euros.

It's with great shame that I admit to voting for three of them - took me too long to read up on what these clowns were actually doing. Props to GWB for being so horrible that I had to face the music.

Bush Sr didn't have morals. He's every bit as reprehensible and full of shit as Reagan. He literally was integral to the Iran Contra situation and pardoned his co-conspirators once he became President. He was also either actively working towards it or complicit in letting it happen, in the shit the CIA was doing (in South America and the Middle East, that has made those places chaotic to this day).

Hell, I'd say he saved Reagan's legacy as he helped temper Reagan's public persona into the dottering old man that helped cover for all the evils that Republicans were committing. Bush Sr wasn't openly as hostile as Reagan (which a lot of people seem to forget just how much of a stupid asshole Reagan was) or Turmp (who is in a league of his own obviously), and he knew better than to get recorded like Nixon, but he was just like them when it came down to it. I wouldn't be surprised if he was even worse as he probably kept that veneer up while pushing the extreme shit, which helped enable it and gave it that facade of not being what it was.

I notice most all conservatives have neglected to qualify their choices as usual.
Why would they? We all know how the poll will turn out, we all know what the response to any vote that isn't Trump will be. It's like asking a vegan forum what's better, broccoli or ground beef.

I didn’t vote Trump and explained why.

Wow, it's almost like I forgot Iran/contra (I guess I want to). The CIA shit - well, I just figured he was doing his job, which is whatever the president and the NSC want. Good points though vis-a-vis what we had already done in the ME and SA. We did some awful shit in the name of the cold war and he was definitely in on it under Reagan and his own admin. I was thinking, at the time, about the 1st gulf war - at least when he and Powell were looking at gunship video - they realized it was time to end the war when we were just mowing down Iraqi soldiers by the bushel as they tried to run away.

I didn’t want to create a new thread about this but watching the inauguration and seeing pence there but not trump is amazing.

Of all the president, all 46 of them, trump is the biggest bitch of them all.

Good riddance and FUCK YOU!!!

I wouldn't post in P&N at all if I were a Republican who voted for Trump. They were hammered relentlessly in 2017 and on - it must have been like being gang banged.

There has never been a President that displayed incompetence, corruption, and malice on this scale.

He destroyed practically everything he touched, has been mired in corruption since before he took office, and capped his corruption with 100+ quid pro quo pardons for past, and future favors.

He has divided the country more than any president since the Civil War, and incited an attempt to overthrow democracy. He is a traitor to the people of the USA.

He has destroyed the reputation of the USA in the world, both as a trusted ally, and as an example of democracy.

He ignored a pandemic that has claimed 400 000 American Lives so far. To put some perspective on that. That's much more than the US combined casualties in every armed conflict after WW2 combined.

We could make a near endless lists of his failures, and corruptions.

There simply isn't anyone close, and if in there is in the future, it will be the President that succeed in completing the destruction he started.

Edit: I just remembered another that can't be forgotten. Kids in cages FFS!
