Ive just been wondering since almost everyone, or a good majority of us do not like MS does anyone here work for them? Anandtech is a popular and well known tech site so i figured there should be a few if not alot of programmers etc here... yet i havent seen anyone say if they work for MS.

Would you ever want to work for them?

Edit: maybe this topic will attract attention

As much as I think there are better alternatives to their operating systems for many situations, I'd love to get a networking job there at least for a while to experience it. You know it has to be an awesome network, and the culture sounds pretty cool.

I would work for them. I mainly develop windows applications (now .NET applications), as well as ASP.NET. I own a MSDN Subscription, and all the other fun stuff. If I was accepted for a job there, I would work there.

wow wasnt expecting so many yes's since i have seen some hardcore MS hatred on these boards... seems money changes minds eh?

chances are, they wouldn't take you 😉 it's unbelievably competitive and they get thousands of applicants every year, any of who could do the job brilliantly. ironic, considering the awful reputation of most of their software.

I really like Microsoft. They are one of America's most innovative companies.

They realised the potential of free web email before anyone else, buying hotmail when it was a young company.

The X-Box is heads and shoulders above the PS2.

Windows is not going to lose it's dominance anytime soon.

I'd work for them in a heartbeat.

i worked for them straight outta college, contract to blue badge. their hq rules the roost...free soda, great area, buildings are nice!!

enticing stock options (at the time) but pay sucks! all good things come to an end...leeched m$ for all their skills and went on to other/better gigs.

Let me put it to you this way, I'd work at AOL at the moment. Being a drafter right is not a good career choice.

Hmmm, let's see here:

-Successful corporation
-Track record of great employee treatment
-Wondeful campus
-Future looks bright

Why would you want to work there? 😕

My sis works for MS, and she absolutely loves it there. They take care of their employees very well.

i take it she's permanent and not a contractor. i hear stories about their contractors, from friends that have worked there as well as on the web. never first hand experience though.

No way in hell. Maybe pre-1995 but since they totally peaked and are just another company from an employee's perspective. Plus I would probably kick billg's ass if I saw him in the halls 😉
