My box froze up on me while playing a game (?I was running Windows ME ) , so I killed the power,,,,needless to say that messed my stuff up. So I formated the drive and attempted to put Windows 98 SE back on. So I installed it and when it reboots all I get is "Windows Protetion Error, Restart your Computer" it takes me in a big circle over and over again,,,I NEED HELP!!!!!!

Haha yeah, that happened to me once as well. Most recently, I was installing Win98 SE and after i had loaded my SB Live! sound drivers and such, I decided to disable the annoying sounds that windows 98 has hwne you do anything, like open up a window or double click something, etc. And I also disabled the startup sound which the SB Live! sets to be a lightning sound.

Well after i rebooted, boom...." Windows Protection Error...reboot your computer " and it actually shut off, lol.

So after reinstalling a couple of times i figured out that it was the specific disabling of the SB Live! startup sound that was giving me that error!
