This is my first job. Last year, I didn't get my boss anything but he got all of his direct reports a little gift (I got a "Dockers" wallet, which was pretty nice). I was thinking about getting him something this year but I'm not sure what. I don't want to do anything over the top but I don't really want to do anything too cheesy either. Are you guys going to buy a Christmas gift for your boss?

Ask your co-workers if they are getting him anything. You don't want to look like a brown-nose if you're the only one to get him something.

I bet the company paid for your last years christmas present, cant see why you should spend your money on your boss unless its a group thing.

Card and/or small gift certificate is appropriate. Actual gift is not.
