wouldn't be surprised, MS is known for ripping off ideas/ hardware/ software from other companies.

(i'm still an PC/ XP user)

Link to a news story I'm missing or something?

Edit: I highly doubt it.

Tell me what they ripped off from another company? They pay top dollar for their stuff 95% of the time.

To respond to your query, NO. They will not. I would bet $1000 that there is not.

As a side note for those who don't know, it is perfectly ok for code under the BSD license to be in Windows, so long as proper credit is given per the terms of the license.

They probably won't find any GPL'd code, but they will likely find a really badly written, kludged mess.

if (site.url="www.google.com") {
browser.renderer.togglebuggyrenderer(); /* You will be assimilated, suckers */
browser.fakepopup("www.msn.com");
}

I can't say anything about this one though:

if (user.status==PISSED_OFF)
prick.annoyingpopup("Hello, I noticed you are writing a letter")

lol, saw that on slashdot

Considering hundreds of people have been looking at the source code for years now, and no one has spoken up, I highly doubt it.
Just as Ameesh has said, several Universitys have access to the COMPLETE source code. And many corporations have access to large portions of the code.

Just to play devil's advocate; you don't think anyone who is given permission to view the source has to sign a very strict NDA as one of the conditions of being able to view the code? I can't imagine that not being the case. That's not to say that I think MS is necessarily hiding anything but I'm sure they're very strict about the conditions under which they allow the source to be viewed. To protect their interests if nothing else.

You need another option such as I'm not nerd enough to care as long as it's useful :)

In my personal opinion, breaking an NDA to 'squeel' on a company breaking copyright laws is a no brainer. I'm an MS supported, but I'd blow the whistle in a second :)

As for
NO. Linux is stable. Windows is NOT.
Tell that to my system, which hasnt crashed in.. 1.5 years.. ? (including a 65 day uptime run right now with 5-6 hours of daily use and SETI running 24/7 in the background) (or my other XP system with 8+ hours of daily use and a full time web/db server running in the backround server 100 unique visitors daily - up for 30 days now) gg.

I'm sure some lazy-ass programmer just ripped off some small parts from open-source stuff instead of developing himself.

LMAO :D

It's a trap! They are trying to pull a SCO and accuse OSS developers of stealing Windows code. OSS developers, DONT LOOK!
