Just browesing through the wikipedia and ran across the 4xx series that is supposed to come out. Now, I know that it will not preform as well as a regular Core 2 Duo, But at $39-59 how can you go wrong? The biggest cripple to them is the fact that they only have .5 MB cache. But still, that smells like a processor that will be able to overclock to 4GHZ with some good ram.

What do you think?

I think they will because of their high multipliers and given the price, can't be beat. Plus being single core, that might play an important role in how high they will go.

Yeah, a bit soon. However, I still voted YES. Why? Well, it should not overclock much worse than the worst C2D. However, many people will stick their noses up at them because, like, "OMG single core is sooooo dead."

For "fun overclocking" I'd rather pay $50 for a 3.5GHz single core CPU with 512k cache than $350 for a 3.5GHz dual core CPU with 4MB cache.

If people want that last bit of Folding or Sandra performance, then they can pay the higher price. Me? I'll stick to the lower price offering when possible/prudent for my purposes.

Either way, the Celeron D 400 series and the Pentium E series will be the death knell for the Netburst chips.
