But really, there is only one logical answer to this question.

Strictly limited to the two, Obama of course.

Not in a political sense at all, but just he at least carries himself in a respectable manner, he's personable, he speaks well, he comes off as a reasonable.

Trump's personality on the other hand, wreaks. I would not want my kids to be anything like him. He's a brash, loudmouth blowhard who comes off to most as an instant asshole, full of himself prick.

It's no big deal admitting this. People carry the whole R vs D thing too far.

Politically speaking, I wouldn't want my kids to be anything like either of them for the most part- but Trump for his more *reasonable* positions that he bloviates about. Trump doesn't really give a damn about politics though, he doesn't have me fooled the way he does a lot of others. Obama on the other hand is a shameless ideologue- a political snake, an opportunist. All of his good qualities he uses to further his political agenda. He pretends to be a uniter, but he's a master divider.

I would want my kids to be honest people that are nothing like either of them, in the political sense.

Obama reminds me a whole lot of my Boy Scout troop leader when I was a kid. He was the chief surgeon for the local hospital, totally unflappable, very inspirational and all and all one heck of a nice guy. I don't think you could do better than such a person to emulate.

Trump, OTOH, should be emulated only if your goal for your kids is used car sales or juvenile hall.

The right question: Who is that obnoxious asshat, Alex.

Neither would be my first choice, but if I had to choose, it's not even close. Obama's faults are largely sky-written in Trump. With a BUFF.

Are you sayin' that Christopher Hitchens is an obnoxious asshat? I mean, if I said Lee Nelson, aye, fair enough. But Hitchens? The same guy that eviscerated the Catholic Church and Bill Clinton?

I'd have ta say that you got a few issues if ye were.

Please refresh my memory. When was the last time Obama behaved like an assclown compared to Trump?

I'm not comparing him to Trump. I consider both as poor role models. Too bad for you that I'm not a slavish worshiper of your hero Obama. But I wouldn't want my kids to emulate any politician to don't be too offended, sweetie.

And she actively tried to cover for him. She's a hideous excuse for a human being.

Growing up kids are taught the President of the United States is someone to admire. Let's say you have a 7 year old child. Who would you prefer they emulate?

My kids, if I have any, were taught never to believe the experts in anything since I have examined the so called wise and found they know nothing at all. I also continue to tell you children the same thing.

That's a fair point, but believing in nothing is hardly any way to live. I would quote Reagan: Trust, but verify. Especially if the experts are using their knowledge to demand specific behavior, an extra bucket of skepticism is only sensible.

EDIT: However, the OP specifically set up two individuals as worthy of emulation. I certainly agree that neither (which he did not include as a choice) is a perfectly valid answer for several reasons. But absent that choice, Trump is superior to Obama in only one area: wealth generation. That is also a very poor way to live one's life. Money is certainly important, as anyone who has been poor can attest, but making it more important that integrity is morally worse than being poor. Maybe more fun, but morally worse.

Neither, they are both terrible.

Just because someone is a public figure or holds a high office doesn't mean they are suitable to have your children emulate. I'd find a better role model for the kids than either of them.

I agree.

damn, I wish this poll was public.

I voted Trump, because he actually has adult children whom I can evaluate on their merits, and they seem pretty with it. It's a stupid poll because Obama's daughters still have college to go through.

Still not voting for Trump, though.

I never grew up thinking this. I was always taught hes just another liar politician trying to serve his best interests at all costs, all the while completely ignoring the needs of the nation.

Me too. You grew up with Reagan as POTUS as well?

What if they just have an open relationship all this time but it's clearly political suicide to advertise that sort of thing in their position, so they long ago just decided to go with the repeated jilted wife thing and live with the consequences?

I understand your sentiment, but when I started thinking about how often Bill pulls tail and how long Hillary has appeared somewhat tolerant of it, how their early years were spent living the hippy life in the 60s and 70s, it makes me think that something else is going on.
