EDIT oops..i thought i had the braves added but stupid slow connection messed me up. No offense to the braves fans

So who's going to win the 2002 world series and why?!? I'll bring back this poll half way through the seaon to see how accurate people's predictions will be.

<< the Dbacks, cause the teams that play them will score less points. >>

Wow, there's some deep thoughts in this thread

<< Uh....the Atlanta Braves (10 straight division titles) aren't even on your list.. >>

That's kind of like saying who has the best chance to win the NCAA basketball tournament and then omitting Kansas.

That might be because the damn season hasn't even started yet (hell, the pre-season has hardly started yet). There's no way to tell who will do what as there's just too many variables (trades, injuries, exceptionally good/bad seasons for individual players) to take into account.

well it won't be the Red Sucks that's for sure, lol, not unless lightening decides to strike in the same place twice

If the Sox win, maybe they will let us out of here, Baffled 😀

alright, you want a real reason then, even though it barely is even pre-season? the Dbacks have a first starting three of Curt Schilling, Randy Johnson and Todd Stottlemyre. all potential 20 game winners. that is 60 wins right there. but i am sure Stottlemyre will get hurt AGAIN and be out so therefore who knows. too early to tell.

BTW: being i am from minnesota originally, i wouldn't mind the Twins making a run. would really put a message to MLB that they shouldn't be disbanded.

I'll go out on a VERY firm limb and say that the Diamondbacks definitely won't do it again this year.

Why? Because they're old. They're already breaking down (Matt Williams). Stottlemyre will, undoubtedly, get hurt again. Can you bank on Luis Gonzalez having ANOTHER career year? Mark Grace could decline at any time. Tony Womack is still a waste.

I don't like any team's chances when they're banking on a lot of old guys to carry the team. Old players tend to break down - sometimes, very quickly.

I really hate to say it, but its going to be the Yanks. Simply because they can afford to buy the right players.

Logic points to the Yanks because of Giambi, David Wells, Ventura, Rondell White, Steve Karsay... but my pick goes to Houston with Jimy and their newfound pitching.

but it'd be great to see the Marlins make a run with their amazing young pitching staff. The A's are also due for postseason success, but the loss of Giambi may be too much to overcome. Their top 3 starters rival anyone in baseball, though. Texas is a wild card because of all the tinkering they've been doing.

i see your point. but let me counter-point. Matt Williams has been our most worthless player for three years. C. Counsell and David Dellucci will be able to more than compensate. Jay Bell has been playing third a lot lately too. Luis Gonzalez probably won't have as good a year, but Finley had a terrible year last year and if he plays anywhere near his potential this year watch out. even if Grace has a bad year Durazo was the best pinch hitter in the league last year. and we still have Greg Colbrunn who can fill in. Womack is not a waste but even still we have Junior SPivey who was a great role player last year. as for pitching i agree that Todd will get hurt again, but we picked up Rick Helling in the off season. and we also picked up Mike Myers to offer up a bullpen. we have a lot of young talent so even if the old players need a few days off...we can survive and still win.

it'll be a great run this year, but of course the Yankees can afford to buy all the best players so they probably will win the american league. but...like i said..and has been said before...the season just started. no one thought the Dbacks were going to have a chance last year either.

The Astros of the state of Texas has much athletic ability, but they also have the most active players with above average IQ's -- of those athletes who have been tested.

I would think that high IQ and superb atheltics is a good combination for championship team.
