Yes and no. Father was a Navy pilot and when on carrier deployment he was obviously not there.

My parents were married for 25yrs and divorced when I was 22yrs old.

Back then, you stayed married for the kids. We hardly ever saw them fighting.

Mine was either at the local or golfing. I saw him once a week at the most.

No, my mother was (and is) an idiot and picked a rather stupid and definitely irresponsible man to father me; he promptly left. How I don't have a room-temp IQ is beyond me, it's possible there was a mistake at the hospital I suppose, and some shaved chimp out there had the upbringing I deserved :| :p At any rate I think I really suffered for not having a father figure around, especially in the zoo I called a family as a kid.

Parents married for 20+ years and dad was always there. Not too fond of him as a kid (arguments etc), but I've come to respect and idolize him as a real family man. He'd take us to Great Adventures every year and fishing once in a while. But now that his company isn't doing so well and being sent to other countries on business trips, and the fact that I'm away in college, I don't get to see him much.

But I do miss him

My father passed away shortly after I was born. My mother then remarried 4 years later. My step father wasn't very engaged in my life as I was growing up, but has always been a good provider. For that I'm thankful.

my parents have been married 35 years or so. My dad was strict yet fair, my mother open and honest. It was basically something to the effect of 'you and women are going to be doing things, you get one pregnant you better be prepared to handle it, I can support your decision, but not the endevour' and 'I did these things....you may too, here are the problems I faced and the benefits.' My mother grew up living in the hotel my grandmother owned on the Ft. Lauderdale Strip, and my father living outside the area but popular.

My parents and I spend a lot of time together nowadays. Boating, movies, dinners, projects, even bar hopping occasionally.

I would say he was a hard father, but a good one too.

My dad was gone (doing his occupational medicine (MPH) residency first, then job-related issues second) for the ages 7-9 and 11-14. It was weird explaining to people that my dad and mom were still happily married, but that he wasn't around.

I tend to think that he was going through his midlife crisis, and that he just needed to spend some time away from kids and wife for a while. He's a very loving dad though.
