Not necessarily. James Clyburn and the black voters of South Carolina literally saved his candidacy.
Assuming Clyburn wants the role, yeah I think Biden will offer any position to him first. Then fill out cabinet after.

Clyburn publicly said he wanted Biden to choose a black woman. Wonder if Biden will fell obligated?

Time to relax. He didn’t make it. The 1% aren’t the 1% because they are stupid. The only worth a soulless society can offer is to be rich and famous. Did you buy your lottery ticket?

See, democracy isn’t dead. You have one chance in a billion if you play the game.
I have never bought a single lottery ticket in my life. I know my only hope is to vote for the Democrat. :)

I really, REALLY want to see a young woman in the White House, like Tulsi Gabbard.
We've had plenty of old white men as president and frankly none of the old white men who want the job are fit to have it.
AOC would kick some ass. I know, too young come November.

Don’t get me wrong, a black woman is fine by me, but really, we couldn’t have s socialist because of reasons, presumably social stigma, but now a woma and black to boot, is just the thing. And nobody notices how insane the hypocrisy is. Hahaha. What a joke. Democrats are brain dead.

I'm not familiar with most of them but I think its a good sign that there's a glut of viable potential running mates, indicates to me that there should be plenty of good options for cabinet and other positions in the Administration. Certainly would be superior to the absolute clownshit circus sideshow that Turmp has assembled.
...

Yeah, Biden is going to need a lot of good people to replace Trump knuckleheads.

I want Biden to pick the BEST person for the job. I don't care what color or sex they are.

I think your best choice if you’re going for ‘win the election at all costs’ is Klobuchar. It’s a good pick. I hold out some hope though that he would pick Warren because I feel like he would empower her and we need her in the executive branch because that’s where shit gets done.

This. I voted Amy, but really the vote is for best Midwestern woman, and I don't know much about the other two (other than Trump hates the mi gov.)

Other consideration should be is who they get replaced by. Only way he should take a senator is if it's a 100% chance they get replaced by a D.

The last point is why Warren would be a poor choice IMO.

I am not familiar with Whitmer, but in general, I could see an advantage in picking someone outside the primary candidates. It would be a fresh face, someone who was not involved in the infighting and debates before Biden was selected. I think Stacy Abrahms is a much more likely choice though, if he picks someone who was not a primary candidate.

In principal she seems like a solid choice, but I don't know her background, and I don't know how well her pandemic response planning will play out.

Trump has been terrible on it, so I'd be careful in choosing somebody that may allow him to muddy the water more that he will anyway. It sounded like Detroit was a bit of a klusterfuk at one point.

The VP's job is to discourage the assassination of the President by being a worse option, and to pull votes during the general that might otherwise not have been pulled. I personally have never met anyone that voted for a President simply because they liked the VP and would have abstained otherwise, but apparently people believe that is a thing. Might even be able to back it up with numbers, I don't know, but it is hard for me to fathom that kind of logic.

Not a big deal though as Massachusetts law requires a special election to be held within ~5 months so even if the governor chooses a Republican they will be gone shortly thereafter.

And yes, I realize the last time this happened a Republican won the special election but let's be honest with ourselves, Massachusetts is one of the safest states there is. If a Democrat loses there a Democrat is going to lose in whatever other seat you're opening up too.

can't. He already served two terms.
Not an issue. The constitution only says he can't be elected president, not that he can't be vice president, or become president through succession.

"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once."

Biden likely won't make it 8 years, so I would consider this VP pick to be especially important.

And THAT will be the entire Trump campaign against Biden. Age, health, appearance, stamina, mental capability, plus add in there the absolute lies from Trump attacking Biden's chances to survive four years. To bad most people will fall for the antics of Donald Trump, fall for the distraction, fall for the lies yet people will forget who this is coming from in the first place. This is coming from someone that is proven clinically INSANE.
Joe could be in ICU hooked up to life support and Joe would still the better man. I wouldn't worry about Joe. Remember, when it comes to Donald Trump the bar is not that high.

Not if he gets too sick. Any VP is a potential president, everybody knows that who is cognizant. But hey, we've yet to have even a female vice president.

Absolutely, and to his credit Biden has addressed this, saying a few he wants someone a bit younger than himself. Another reason I don't think it will be Liz, she's only 3 years younger than him IIRC.

Warren .. she will draw the berns, female and the black vote. Its a nobrainer.
You need Harris as AG to fuck everything Trump residual leftover...

Warren is a complete no-go because then her senate seat would be filled by a Republican governor. Leave her in the senate. Same for Sherrod Brown.
