Customer Relationship Management software

any which software are you using?

we're researching the cost/benefits of such a system and I was wondering how useful it is and how many people out there use it. It seems most of them are pretty expensive, we're also looking for a cheap solution that has a web front end interface and a database backend.

I've had to use Siebel 7 (utter crap), and we are now using SAP ("utter crap" does not even begin to describe the uselessness of this software)..

We used to use CRIS (Siebel 7).

I ended up spending time with my fellow two leads and we wrote a massive article to our executives as to why Siebel is the single biggest steaming pile of crap ever - the company did not assist us in configuring it and we were using that gigantic bloated POS webapp on brand new machines and it still ran slow as a dog.

We ended up ditching Siebel and are now using RightNow. It has it's own problems, but it's leagues ahead of CRIS.

does anyone use Microsoft Small Business Management?

I saw a demo on M$ and it looks pretty good and simple, which is exactly what we need.

It has new Microsoft Outlook with Business Contact Manager. You can use that to manage all the customer contacts and input notes like financial data and work orders. It is then tied to outlook and can be accessed and updated from a microsoft based PDA or smartphone in the field. That sounds awesome and is exactly what we need.

Has anyone tried it?

After seeing the tool, it looks like a frontend for access and excel and the like, but seems to leave it to you do do all the legwork

QB seems to do a great job with reporting usign excel and stufff as the backbone IIRC but it is alll automated. No work for us.

FOr example, payroll in that MS app exports the info in an access fdile for someoen to manage....
