USPS not included.

why would that make a difference if you'll be deciding on which carrier to go with for the SAME PACKAGE.

USPS charges based solely on weight. UPS charges are determined from a number of factors including: where it is being shipped to (very important), weight, and dimensions ..

yes, i know that and like i posted, USPS is not a choice.
all carriers now have different prices for difference zones.

also, i do believe that USPS does have size restrictions, but i'm not sure about charges on that.

All USPS priority mail is actually handled by FedEx hence the reason you see fed Ex boxes out in front of postoffices. We ship a lot of packages and USPS has been the way to got little to no trouble on any insurance claims and they ship on Saturday for no xtra charge. Big Brown is not in recognition of the trucks its for the Big brown pile of crap serrvice they give.

3 lb package cross country costs the following:

1) Airborne Ground (5.50)
2) FedEx Ground (6.70)
4) USPS Priority Mail (8.55)
3) UPS Ground (10.60)

I personally prefer Priority Mail, but it gets pricey really quickly, so I'm thinking about using Airborne more in the future.

Do you not understand English? UPS might charge the least for a 6x6x6 5lb box, whereas FedEx might charge the least for a 12x12x12 18lb box, both using 2 day shipping. IT VARIES BY PACKAGE.

IE, there is no "one cheapest" shipping carrier

Well now, we don't know the size, shape, weight or destination of that SAME PACKAGE, do we?

Sounds like you don't understand English. He's trying to figure out the cost for one package, the same size. Not multiple packages.

Wow, looks like neither do you. Like I stated above, IT DEPENDS ON THE PACKAGE!!!! The 2 different sizes are examples - just because UPS is the cheapest for the smaller package doesn't mean it has the best prices for shipping on ALL packages. I worked Copy Center at Staples and did UPS Ship Center for almost 2 years - I've handled packages big and small, light and heavy. I've had people tell me we charged the cheapest shipping prices out of any carrier, and I've had people tell me we raped them by charging the standard $6.00 for UPS Ground for a .5lb 3x3x6 box. So I'll say it again: IT DEPENDS ON THE PACKAGE!!

But we still don't know the size, shape, weight, origin or destination of this alleged package, now , do we?

And don't forget USPS priority mail, flat rate envelope. Stuff that thing as heavy as you want and it's still $3.85. I commonly shoehorn 3 pound items in there and see the hatred on the postal employees eyes when they realize what's going on.

I voted for Fedex based on my personal experence. However I have to admit I have never shipped via Airborne. Not even sure if they have a location near me.
