Well there's always been a history about lawyers being the most hated people in the country. But I think salesmen are just as bad if not worse. They call you at home 3 times a week. They pressure you into buying things that you don't need. They prey on the weak. And they got to be the most greediest, selfish bunch of people on the planet. <~~ Well you have to be in order to survive in that business.

I thought it was funny that the salespeople at my local cable company are just as agressive as carsalesmen in trying to get you to into buying their product.

Well, seeing as how trial lawyers are ruining our country, I'd say lawyers. Salesmen don't have as much affect on our everyday lives as lawyers do.

After I saw a 60 minutes type show on lawyers I cannot say anyone can stoop lower. There is a law that a lawyer can go to any business without sufficient handicap parking and fine that business $1000 per day until it gets fixed. That is fine and dandy, but then they started telling stories like this one:

A husband and wife had run a family business for decades. They were the only employees. Both were handicapped and required a wheelchair. What was their business? Wheelchair repair and other services for handicapped customers. The entire store is handicapped accessible - meeting the law to the T. But outside the store, they had one big sign saying all the upclose parking was for handicapped customers (all their customers were handicapped remember). The lawyer who makes his living by fining stores with insufficient handicap parking heard about this business. He fined them for several thousands of dollars (citing that they didn't have the individual blue handicapped signs in front of each parking stall), which made them go bankrupt, and go out of business. These two handicapped store owners now are unemployable, and all their customers must drive 3+ hours to the next repair shop. He didn't care that he was hurting hundreds of handicapped people, he just wanted his money.

That is what a lawyer will stoop to. Salesmen you can say no to and walk away. (Ok sometimes you need to say no a few more times, but still they are harmless).

I wonder what the lawyer gets out of doing all that? More money in his pocket?

He gets the $1000 per day (minus a minisule court cost to file the paperwork). The law basically says the stores have had over 10 years to fix the problem (the handicapped act was pased in the early 1990s), thus they are guilty if they haven't fixed it by now. Anyone who files the paperwork can get the money.

Basically the lawyer is suing the business, and since they were braking the law, there isn't any defense, so they settle out of court. They can hire another lawyer to fight it, but they always lose. (The two lawyers come out with a lot of money though).

Most of our lawmakers are lawyers and look how they managed to screw up the best country in the world.

Sales people pale by comparison.

Salespeople you can generally & safely ignore.
Lawyers will hunt you down and you can't ignore them.
It's no contest.

Lawyers are parasites. They renounce all ethics and human decency and suck the life out of anything they touch. They are sand in the gears of society.

They are both good people. One helps you out if you kill a car salesman, and the other helps you buy a car on which you can drink and drive and run over some lawyers

Wtf is everyone's problem with lawyers?!

You happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and you will need one.

b/c most people outside the legal field think of lawyers as either Johnny Cochran or people suing mcdonalds over hot coffee spills.

I wish I were a lawyer. I really do. They think fast, they know the law, they can USE it unlike most of us, and many of them do the right thing.

You can hate programmers. Damn, Windows crashes. Must be someone who couldn't program. Or a car manufacturer: damn, my car sucks. Or a furniture maker: idiots, can't they make a comfy sofa or a chair?
