After reading this thread did you go and throw your current sponge and food scraper away and replace it with a new one?

what are you going to do, replace them after every use? that will get expensive

a good immune system goes a long way, eat healthy and get enough sleep, you won't get sick as often

What's a food scraper ? I know I'll be changing that sponge more frequently. I think our last one was in use for 3-6 months... I'd like to drop that down to 1-2 months.

Remember, it's not what you see... it's what you excrete. ;)

Of course, but we haven't changed our for about 3 months.... plus they were getting torn and ripped and the scrubber pad was getting worn out. So it warranted a change anyways.

Get the sponge wet and throw it in the microwave for 2 minutes every night. I't won't last as long, but it'll be germ free.

My mom knits and she made a bunch of them for us. They're about the size of a washcloth. I usually fill a big pot or bowl with soapy water, dunk the cloth in that then wash everything. Wash the pot or bowl when I'm done then hang the cloth to dry. We'll use it a few times before putting it in the wash unless it gets food stuck in it, then put it in the dirty laundry right away.

No, actaully I went and washed my coffee mug with my 3 week old used sponge.

i don't use a sponge in the kitchen, i use a dish cloth, and put it in the clothes washer after using it twice, when i {rarely} wash the dishes by hand. I normally use the dishwashing machine.
