Hey guys.

The 626 just got a big tune up, new fuel filter, transaxle fluid, etc. It's new tire time now. My car takes 195-65/14 tires. I called around, and here's what I got:

Low-end Tire Kingdom- $61
Mid-range Tire Kingdom- $71
High-end Tire Kingdom- $95

Low-end Firestone-$60
High-end Firestone-$95

This is per tire. Now, I'll be driving about 120 or 130 miles per day, mostly on interstate. What range of tires would you go with?

Plus $40 shipping and $50 to get someone to put them on for me.

Edit: That's not a derogatory comment if it came off that way, shipping tires would just be really inconvenient right now.

which comes out to around 300 total, about the same as your low-end tires up there. That, and the michilin harmonys are good too, and 20 bucks more then your high-end firestone.

If you want a good ride, you will put Michelin tires on. They will last longer and drive better. Put the cheap ones on and you will be replacing them much sooner because the drive quality sucks on them.

do you have a discount tire (tires.com) around you? if so then get the Falken Ziex ZE-512 @ 53$ each. They can order the tires for you and installation is free. 53 x 4 + tax and you're out the door with a pretty good set of tires.

oh, and if you don't have a discount tire around you, they offer free shipping. Also, to quote the website "Rated #1 by a leading consumer magazine." for the Falkens.

if you have access (yourself or know someone) with a costco card, go there and look for some bridgestone potenzas.

When I had a corolla, i got 175/65R14 Potenza RE900 tires, two for $150 installed (including tax and all the stupid extra fees).

Good tires, once some stupid bitch in a truck too big for her puny ass brain was stopped in a left turn lane, with half her truck blocking the next lane over with through traffic. I had to brake hard and turn at the same time. Sooo much tire smoke, but I got around and the tires never once slipped. Good sh*t.:thumbsup:

Don't cheap out on tires. Your braking, handling, wet/dry traction all depend on your tires.

To those suggesting the Falkans-

I am looking for a set of all season tires for mom's '99 Camry. The Falkans look very attractive, but since she lives in Mass, I'm worried about the performance in snow. All the reviews I've seen are all over the place on the subject of snow. Some claim they are awesome, and others claim they are dangerous and unusuable in snow. Anyone have these and have to drive in snow?

Thanks in advance...

Don't ever get really cheap tires. Tires are VERY important, just as important as brakes.

If you're trying to save money on tires, get some good branded tires that have long-lasting tread, not the cheapest offering at your local tire store.

I went to the place today and they only had two sets of tires for my car. He said that he'd give me a $10/tire discount because of it. I said cool. I got four BF Goodrich Control TA M65 tires and an alignment. It was $385.
