The second will bench much better because the V5 5500 is no match for the Ultra in most benchmarks, especially 3dmark 2000/2001

I find it strange that the price for the first one is only $600 with that 20" monitor, you could be getting a cheap one like an old IBM p200, but that sucks

The second would dominate for performance. But it's overpriced.

But I'd still take the first rig for that price.
I'd have to clock it back and get rid of that awful detal 7000rpm fan though.

The first one was built for 600.

The second was totally customized, I cannot find link.

Brandonl, you're screwing up as usual, so I'll be nice and help you out. On pricewatch right now the 1475MHz system goes for $650 without the monitor. This includes a 56K modem and dual power supplies. This does not include labor, the whole point was to build it yourself and save big time money. I might add that the V5 goes for $120, so you could put a Geforce 3 in for $345 shipped, making the total $875. I'm pointing this out because alot of people would choose your system based on video card benchmarks, I choose the V5 for personal preference. This still makes the AMD system $825 cheaper, and it will out bench the Ultra no problem. My memory is Kingmax 6ns, and the FOP38 fan is not a Delta, I replaced it with a YS-Tech 60mm 26cfm, it is a quiet system.

No, read more carefully, the V5 has better image quality than any Geforce 2 including the Ultra, but it is in no way faster than the Ultra. My system with a Geforce 3 would cost $875 and then video benchmarks would be faster, and still costs $875 less your system, you could put two together for the price of one. I only bring this up because alot of people do not realize how good the V5 looks and put the emphasis on video speed only.

Well yeah :)

hehe

It was funny if you read the thread on the AMD Zone forums, this guy kept saying his would do much better in Sandra benchmarks. He also said you could build the 2nd system for about $1k. Which of course doesn't inclue the time put into the over-all looks of the system for easy maintanance.

Anyway, I'm not gonna bother messing with this anymore, wasted too much time listening to him say his V5 is better than a GF2 Ultra.
