As someone who went to high school in the 90s, my teenage years will filled with a lot of good music in the form of the new "grunge" and "alternative" music styles. This produced some really great songs, and one of my favorite bands is Stone Temple Pilots.

In one of my final efforts to legitimize my music collection, I recently picked up Core and Purple (No idea what happened to my originals). I was listening to "Still Remains" and thought I'd ask what your favorite STP album is (If you have one).

I think I'd have to go with Purple, but Core is almost as good. It's hard to decide. What about you?

Nope, it's a song on the core album

Oh, wait, you're saying that "Thank You" should have "Dead and Bloated" on it. I didn't know what the hell you were talking about there. :)

Yeah, Core was pretty amazing. I've been listening to it and Purple, and I think I'm going to have to change my vote to Core. Purple is still awesome though.

"Take a bath I'll drink the water that you leave. If you should die before me ask if you can bring a friend. Pick a flower, hold your breath and drift away" Best STP lyrics ever...but Core is the better album as a whole I think. But between that song and Big Empty Purple is right there too.

Core is one of the best Rock/Hard rock albums of all time.

It truely came out of no where and just blew everyone away.

Core was great, as is the MTV Unplugged version of "Plush," but I have to give the nod to the "12 gracious melodies" of Purple.

Conversation kills.

Purple. They showed their versatility on that album. Core did rock. I can listen to 2,3, and 9 on loop.

Such a difficult question. Yes, Core and Purple are basically classics now, but don't discount Tiny Music or Number 4 either. All great albums.

I ended up picking No. 4 partly because I am in a dissenting mood and also because that album came out in '99 when a lot of the grunge bands were dead, dying, or on extended hiatus... and STP came out and just melted faces like always. Anyone remember "the mission to save rock & roll?" :) That album and RATM's Battle of LA are must haves for any Party Like It's 1999.

No doubt. This question shouldn't even be asked. That's like asking which Pearl Jam album is the best.

Well, Core is leading, but not by a whole lot. To be honest, I had never heard of "No. 4" and "Shangri-La Dee Da". I just looked their discography up to make sure that they didn't have any albums *before* Core, and I was surprised that there were two later releases that I had never heard of.

core is simply amazing!
purple is a close second... and tiny music third... i don't care much for the subsequent releases although there's a handful of good songs on every album!
