Republicans have been screaming Biden promising to nominate the first black female is discriminatory and an affirmative action pick. They continue to bitch about excluding white people. Biden's pick has leaked and will be announced later. I know nothing about her but I'm confident Biden will not only nominate a more qualified black woman but her credentials will exceed the last non-discriminatory pick, even thou she was nominated promising a woman.

Qualifications are not relevant - it is a political position.

Well sure, but they are lying. I think it's better to point out that they are liars than to engage with their lies.
I look at it as exposing. I don't even have to know Jackson's record to have confidence she is a more qualified pick the ACB or Squee

While Jackson seems like a great nominee one part of me wishes Biden would just nominate some 20 year old to expose the bullshit behind all this.
There is no left wing media to drive that narrative, it wouldn't work.

Not gonna lie, I was secretly hoping he'd nominate either Obama or Hillary just to watch heads explode.

Oh, they'd also both be more qualified than ACB.
I had hoped that RBG would be replaced by any sane Jurist by Biden, Breyer replaced by any sane Jurist by Biden, and then a surprise retirement from Roberts due to medical issues with Obama becoming Chief Justice. Alas, it would have required another timeline.

In case you haven't noticed, GOP talking points against (Insert any Biden nominee here) are out in the wild.
I will not link to any of them.

I don't know either one. Would take a moment of study on their records. Then it probably comes down to a subjective judgement call on what is valuable.

Jackson, 51, served early in her career as a Supreme Court clerk for Justice Stephen Breyer, whose retirement https://www.reuters.com/world/us/li...tephen-breyer-retire-media-reports-2022-01-26 announced in January created a vacancy on the nation's top judicial body. Biden last year appointed Jackson to an influential Washington-based appellate court after she served eight years as a federal district judge.

Seems fine, and as I look over ACB, I do notice a distinct lack of years as a Judge. Though she spent 15+ years as a lawyer. An entire career in law.

Does eight years as a federal district Judge grant one better experience? It might, but as a lawyer's job is to try and break the system to serve an agenda, ACB is certainly qualified for other reasons. Not that anyone expects a judge to be impartial, and she did have two or three years at that.

Merits alone, Jackson wins. But we know this is not merit based, and there are good reasons to pick a younger candidate with less credentials. Life time seat and all that.

Edit:, why the hell did you call her Squee if her name is Ketanji Brown Jackson?
Edit2: Corrected name.

Today I learned 15 years is an entire career. "Distinct lack of years" is a very creative way of saying zero years before Trump nominated her to the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit where she never tried a case in her life before getting to SCOTUS. Jaskalas, fuck off with your desperate grasping at straws.

Pretty sure Squee is reference to Brett Kavanaugh. Technically Squee was one of his high school/college buddies, but for some reason Squee name stuck to Brett Kavanaugh. Probably because of how juvenile the whole affair and hearing become.

Ah, that makes sense. That line ended up confused with the topic / poll question. This explanation has given me the opportunity to correct that.

Between becoming an adult, and today, in what years was ACB not involved with the practice of law?
And seeing as she is now 50, what part of career don't you understand?
As you are frothing at the mouth because I dared analyze the situation rather than goosestep with you, fuck off brown shirt.

It's going to be readily predictable. They won't criticize her credentials. They won't even mention them. They are going to talk about the fact that he made it known in advance it would be a person of color and that, by default, means bias.

But let me ask this... would they have been perfectly fine with a white male? No. So who the fuck cares what they think?

It's not my fault you can't use words correctly. Take this post for example. In what universe does teaching law qualify as the practice of law?
